The Human Resource Director is a highly visible and influential role that has overall Human Resources and Payroll leadership and administration as well as Business Partnership responsibility. This position is accountable for providing strategic and day-to-day Human Resources services and support to employees and management and is responsible for the development and execution of HR policies, programs and strategies that align and support business strategies, goals and objectives, drive business results and enhance employee engagement and retention. The HR Director provides strategic and day-to-day guidance for people and organizational issues including organization change, talent acquisition and management, succession planning, compensation design and administration, benefit program development and administration, leader and employee coaching and development, performance management, employee relations, and HR function initiatives.

As a member of the senior management team, provides HR consulting, guidance, and support in the development and execution of human resources and business strategy and objectives. Provide day-to-day guidance, coaching and human behavior expertise that optimizes organizational effectiveness and employee alignment with business vision, values, and goals. Responsibilities include HRIS and payroll administration, benefits/401K administration, HR policy and program development and administration, Applicant Tracking System administration and talent acquisition program administration, recruitment and selection, HR consulting and issue resolution, performance management administration and coaching, and employee relations. In addition, this position will have responsibility for Affirmative Action/EEO plan development and administration.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide Human Resources leadership and services to employees and management including policy and program administration, employee relations, talent acquisition processes and systems, recruitment and selection, performance management administration and coaching, benefits, and 401K administration.

Primary responsibility for full utilization and integration of Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS), Payroll and Timekeeping systems and the elimination of non-value add activities. Develop processes and train managers, supervisors, and employees; empower self-services of information and processing. Responsible for payroll and timekeeping processing and administration, Human Resource Information System administration and records management.

Responsible for the establishment, communication, execution leadership of HR programs and policies that support and enhance employee and Maco Bag’s performance. Communicate and implement existing and new HR programs, policies, and practices; assist with the creation and/or renewal of programs.

Develop, manage, and lead the full recruitment life cycle for all Maco Bag positions. Responsible for proactively sourcing, screening and developing relationships with high-quality talent for the organization; utilize external and internal sourcing and prospecting tools as well as professional contacts and networks to find experienced candidates, some with niche skill sets.

Partner and collaborate with hiring managers and senior leadership to understand their business, group’s short- and longer-term objectives, team dynamics and staffing needs. Develop understanding of hiring needs. Coordinate and participate with interview teams, utilization of screening and assessment techniques and tools, negotiate offers and successfully close candidates.

Develop, negotiate, and manage competitive benefits package that aligns with company objectives and financial targets. Administer benefits and records including onboarding and annual enrollments. Collaborate with outside resources and insurance companies to ensure competitive pricing and coverage and employee services of benefits.

Lead competitive compensation benchmarking and review processes. Administer pay for performance compensation system. Develop and implement manager and supervisor training that ensures consistent, fair administration of compensation systems. Develop and write job descriptions.

Develop and conduct internal customer training on all HRIS, Payroll, timekeeping and ATS systems to empower managers and employees with readily available information required for business decisions and reports that enhance their ability to manage effectively.

Conduct comprehensive new hire orientations and onboarding of new personnel. Effectively communicate benefits and payroll information, coordinate safety training and ensure policy awareness of all new hires.

Complete accurate and timely weekly payroll processing, ensuring compliance, time off and financial reporting and reconciliation, and employee payment.

Responsible for management and leadership training and development needs identification, management and leadership training development, logistics and coordination and training system administration to enhance and ensure professional management and leadership. Identify employee personal development training needs, implement solutions that benefit employees and Maco.

The Human Resource Director will lead and participate in the evaluation and enhancement of processes, procedures, systems, and programs that positively impact the alignment of employee skills, talents, and interests to best serve Maco production goals and customers, support Maco’s strategies and objectives and meet employee’s growth needs.

Recommend, design and/or assist with the implementation of changes that foster an environment of continuous improvement, increased staff and management effectiveness, profitability and increased employee engagement and satisfaction.

Establish and maintain relationships/partnerships with managers and employees that foster a sought out Human Resources role in their business, personnel, and employee relations decisions.

Experience and Skills:

Bachelors degree plus a minimum of 5 years Human Resource generalist experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Current, in-depth HRIS and/or payroll experience, current knowledge of employment and labor laws, EEO, ERISA and other compliance issues required. Successful recruiting and retention experience; Applicant Tracking System knowledge required. Strong planning and organization, judgment, risk management, and collaboration skills required.

Previous experience with Compensation and Benefits systems and program design preferred; experience with administration required. The successful candidate will have a track record that indicates the ability to assess people and behavioral coaching needs, developed judgment skills that allow the administration of policy intent and recommend appropriate exceptions, ability, and desire to successfully assume the role of advocate, coach, business partner and adviser. Excellent written and verbal communication skills required. Training development experience preferred; training and/or presentation experience preferred.

Ability to build strong relationships, effectively team and produce results with a variety of people with multiple priorities; previous track record of work style and communication flexibility, stress tolerance and determination to create and negotiate win/win solutions within diverse teams.

This position requires the ability to work in the evenings and weekends in staffing and talent acquisition.

Job Benefits:

At Maco Bag, base pay is one part of your total compensation package, and is determined within a range. The base pay range for these roles is between $85,000 and $120,000 annually. Your base pay will depend on qualifications and experience and relevant work history.
