Overview:

The Document Imaging Specialist assists in the document imaging operations by validating, prepping, indexing, scanning and conducting quality checks on all discharges and loose material received while maintaining departmental productivity and accuracy standards. The Document Imaging Specialist also properly maintains scanning equipment.Responsibilities:Assembles and prepares records for document imaging (scanning).Images (scans) documents into clinical database to support continuity of patient care.Indexes imaged (scanned) documents in the database by linking pages scanned to the correct document type, as well as by linking the documents to the correct patient and patient visit via the designated registration information in the host system.Performs quality review (Verification) of scanned documents to ensure clarity of imaged documents, accuracy of linking and scanning, i.e., all pages (front and back of page, when applicable) scanned, scanned without stray lines or marks, etc.Labels/notates scanned documents with medical record number when needed, eliminates blank pages in batches, when appropriate.

Qualifications:Education and Work Experience:

Must possess a high school diploma or GED One (1) year experience in health information services/management or related area; experience with medical record filing systems or with document imaging (scanning) Computer experience; document imaging experience preferred.
