Responsibilities:

Under direct supervision of the professional staff the Patient Care Tech II, Emergency Room performs certain non-complex duties related to patient care and functioning of the unit. The Patient Care Tech II, Emergency Room functions to support the staff assisting with clerical duties along with delivery of patient care to varied age groups while providing a calm, caring and clean environment.Essential Functions:Patient Care Tech II assists other members of the healthcare team to deliver safe, appropriate, and quality patient careAssists with or provides basic nursing care in order to help the nurse meet the activities of daily living for the patientAssists with patient mobility needs including turning, positioning, transferring, and ambulation of patients as directed, using appropriate and proper body mechanics and assistive devicesMaintains safe patient environmentResponds to emergency situations within the scope of their training and performs under the direction of the nursePerforms vital signs, including use of automatic blood pressure machine as directed by nursing staffUnder the direction of the nurse, provides basic skin care to prevent skin break breakdown and maintain or improve skin integrityAnswers call bells and responds to patient requests within their scope or communicates patient needs to the nurseTransfers and moves patients via wheelchair, bed, or stretcher to appropriate locations within the hospitalPossesses and demonstrates working knowledge of equipment in order to ensure a safe environmentMaintains open communication with department staff and accepts direction to ensure a safe environmentUnderstands and respects patients' rights to privacy and dignity in order to maintain patient confidentialityEnsures that equipment and supplies considered essential are functional, safe, and readily accessible in order to provide a safe environmentPerforms department specific maintenance duties as appropriate to departmentActs as a patient advocate to ensure safe, appropriate, and quality patient careAdheres to standards of practice for infection control and universal precautionsAssists with communication between the Department Manager, House Supervisor, and unit staff regarding the 24-Hour Report, admissions, transfers, and bed availability to operationalize department activitiesAnswer phone, faxes request for patient information and physician discharge instructions to primary care providers per HIPAA guidelinesOrganizes, maintains, and updates departmental files and records in an accurate manner to provide for timely and efficient processing of informationCopies and faxes records in a prompt manner according to established medical records policy in order to fulfill requests from appropriate sourcesAssumes responsibility for ordering and restocking supplies necessary for efficient operation of the department within budgetary parametersSchedule:
