The Sales Manager is responsible for partnering with management to drive the Sales & Marketing efforts for the hotel and build strong client relationships. The goal is to maximize banquet and catering revenues in conjunction with over-all revenues. Works closely with support departments that impact sales and provides outstanding customer service on behalf of the property and its ownership. Creates and maintains a unique guest experience, execute on brand standards, and builds awareness of hotel and over-all brand in the local community.
Core Job ResponsibilitiesAssists DOSM and Food & Beverage (F&B) Manager with determining annual catering and F&B revenue goals and assists with controlling costsPartners with F&B Manager to provide support in F&B operationsEnsures the sales call process is generating maximum profit for the hotel by implementing marketing strategies; analyzes trends and tracks resultsChampions, prospects, fosters engagement, and raises awareness of the brandMaintains catering sales projections and/or goals by mix of businessKeeps current with supply and demand, changing trends, economic indicators, and comp set activitiesExemplifies a high professional standard and ensures monthly sales goals are metProvides hands-on support for sales team as leads are generated and new business moves through the sales cycle (from the initial inquiry to definite status)Develops and implements new sales initiatives, strategies, and programs to capture key demographicsContinually develops knowledge of the business climate, geographic market, and competition for new and existing accountsNetworks and prospects new and existing accounts while developing and maintaining excellent client relationshipsResponsible for selling/coordinating/detailing meeting space and food and beverage serviceDevelops and delivers account strategy relating to overall hotel performanceResponsible for effectively managing revenue by utilizing market industry data and knowledge to secure appropriate business to maximize hotel profitabilityResponsible for utilizing sales tools/systems to accurately identify, report, forecast and communicate sales data. Ensures integrity of sales data by documenting information in specific brand software on a regular basisResponsible for client satisfaction by ensuring the clients' needs, wants, concerns and accolades are responded to in a courteous and timely manner as mandated by respective hotel brand and as expected by ownershipEnsures effective communication of client needs from sales department to appropriate operational departmentsProvides follow-up calls and correspondence to clients to encourage repeat business/customer referralsEnsures all company, brand, and department specific training requirements are metAttends all daily, weekly and/or monthly department/hotel meetings to ensure proper communication/planning occursCompletes other tasks and duties as assigned based on business needsExperience and SkillsMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Minimum of 2 years of experience in hotel sales; or an equivalent number of years of education and sales experienceProven track record of great guest services scores, meeting brand standards, solid business references and national brand experience strongly preferredExcellent verbal, written and presentation skills; ability to communicate effectively with community partners, vendors, external parties, and across internal divisionsAbility to learn and understand profit and loss statements, as well as the ability to assist GM and DOSM to create and adhere to an annual budgetA passion for the mission, vision, and values of Sherman AssociatesSchedule may vary due to the specific needs of the hotelWORK ENVIRONMENT
This job operates in a professional office environmentThis role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machinesExposed to ambient room temperatures, lighting and traditional office equipment found in a typical office environment; quiet to moderate noise levelPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
