General Description and Classification Standards

The 911 Social Media Coordinator plays a vital role in enhancing public awareness and engagement by managing and executing social media strategies for our emergency communications department. This position is responsible for creating, curating, and managing content across all social media platforms, promoting community safety, and fostering positive relationships between the community and emergency services.

Content Creation and Management:Develop and implement a comprehensive social media strategy that aligns with the department's goals.Create engaging and informative content, including graphics, videos, and written posts, to share on various social media platforms.Curate relevant content from credible sources to share with the community.Community Engagement:

Monitor social media channels for community feedback, inquiries, and concerns, responding in a timely and professional manner.Foster community engagement by organizing online campaigns, contests, and educational initiatives related to public safety.Crisis Communication:

Collaborate with the emergency communications team to disseminate timely and accurate information during emergencies and critical incidents.Ensure that all communications reflect the department's commitment to transparency and public safety.Analytics and Reporting:

Track and analyze social media metrics to measure the effectiveness of campaigns and initiatives.Prepare regular reports on social media performance and community engagement, providing insights for future improvements.Training and Development:

Stay updated on social media trends, best practices, and emerging technologies to continually enhance the department's online presence.Provide training and support to staff on effective social media use and communication strategies.Qualifications

Qualifications

Proven experience in social media management, preferably within a public sector or emergency services context.Strong writing, editing, and communication skills.Familiarity with social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.) and analytics tools.Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.Knowledge of public safety communication protocols is a plus.Skills and Attributes:
