Overview:

Fontbonne, The Early College of Boston is seeking a dynamic and experienced Assistant Head of School for Advancement to lead our Advancement efforts. The Assistant Head of School for Advancement understands and accepts the charism and mission of the Sisters of St. Joseph, the philosophy and mission of Fontbonne. This senior leadership position will be pivotal in advancing the mission of Fontbonne by overseeing all aspects of fundraising, communications, Alumnae and constituent engagement, and strategic partnerships.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to the long-standing values of Fontbonne, have a deep understanding of the educational landscape, and possess a proven track record in fundraising and staff management and development. The Assistant Head of School for Advancement is a full-time professional position requiring an individual with a strong belief in the mission of Fontbonne – especially related to and in the environment of all women’s education.

Fontbonne is a Catholic, college-preparatory secondary school and early college for young women, grades 7 - 12 founded in 1954 by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Boston; committed to fostering academic excellence and empowering young women to become leaders who are inspired to live out the values of faith, scholarship, and service.

Key Responsibilities:

Fundraising & Development:

Develop and execute a comprehensive advancement short and long-term plan(s) aligned with the school's strategic goals to ensure annual revenue goals.

Lead and oversee all fundraising initiatives, including annual giving, major gifts, planned giving, capital campaigns, and special events.

Cultivate and steward a portfolio of principal and major gift donors and prospects to ensure all aspects of donor cultivation, solicitation and stewardship.

Prepare and present reports to the Head of School, Board of Trustees Advancement and Finance teams and Board of Trustees on fundraising progress and strategies.

Strategically manage a portfolio of Grant applications in addition to researching new grant opportunities to ensure a consistent source of Corporate & Foundation revenue.

Alumnae Relations:

Build and sustain strong relationships with Fontbonne alumnae through effective engagement strategies.

Plan and support the execution of alumnae events, reunions, and networking opportunities with the Director of Strategic Events and Engagement.

Develop and maintain an alumnae database to track engagement and contributions.

Strategic Partnerships:

Identify and cultivate partnerships with businesses, corporations and foundations, and community organizations to support Fontbonne’s mission and goals.

Work collaboratively with the Head of School and other senior leaders to align partnerships with the school’s strategic vision.

Leadership & Team Management:

Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Advancement professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and excellence.

Oversee and manage each area of the advancement program, including: constituent relations and development, marketing and communications, volunteer management, research, stewardship, annual fund, special events, major gifts and planned giving.

Collaborate with the Head of School and other senior administrators to ensure alignment of Advancement efforts with the overall school strategy and mission of Fontbonne.

Represent the school at public events, meetings, and functions as a member of the senior leadership team.

Experience managing competing priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy, demonstrating flexibility, and effectively solving problems in a fast-paced environment.

Oversee and manage the Advancement budget and submit budget recommendations to the Head of School as part of the annual budget process.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree required; Master’s degree preferred.

Minimum of 6-8 years of experience in Advancement, Development, or related fields, preferably in an educational setting.

Commitment to the mission and values of Fontbonne.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge, as well as Rediker’s Sustain, preferred.

Proven success across all fundraising levels including 6 and 7 figure gifts.

Experience in capital campaign planning and execution.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships, engage and inspire a wide range of stakeholders.

Strong leadership and team management skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative leadership team.

Proven track record of success in fostering positive outcomes within female-centered institutions is an asset.
