You Have:
Masters Degree + 4 years experience in event planning and execution, public relations, marketing, or fundraising success cultivating, soliciting, and stewardship of donors and prospects
OR Bachelor's degree + 6 years experience in event planning and execution, public relations, marketing, or fundraising success cultivating, soliciting, and stewardship of donors and prospects
4 years of senior-level management experience with oversight of supervisors/leaders
Minimum age of 25
Valid driver's license with current insurance
Some travel required

As our Development Director, you'll bring your lived and professional experiences to lead the development team to ensure exceptional implementation of the annual development program, including development plan, projections/metrics, donor engagement/cultivation, and marketing/communications.

The Impact You Make:
In collaboration with the Executive Director, manage relationships with individual donors to maximize revenue and resource development and coordinate efforts of board members with their donor relationships.
Responsible for oversight and execution of special events to ensure events are properly planned, managed, and executed.
Provide administrative management of development and marketing activities, including timelines, budgets, contact lists, correspondence, meeting materials, and minutes.
Interact with board members, volunteers, leadership, and community members as sources of referrals for potential major donors; and attend meetings and fundraising events to identify and cultivate relationships with board members and prospective donors.
Provide support to and participate in development-related Board activities and serve as the liaison to the Advancement Committees, subcommittees, and other committees.
Coordinate with the Development Associate and/or Freelance Marketer to manage all donor-related communication, including annual appeals, acknowledgments, impact reports, newsletters, in-kind donations, and other development-related communication.
Develop annual goals and strategy and execution with the team.
Assess the effectiveness of fundraising campaigns.
Manage fundraising activities.
Create stewardship plans for individual donors.
Supervise functions of the development team.
Regularly segment our donor list and prioritize prospects and movements within and outside of the assigned portfolio.
For signature events, recruit leadership, develop prospect lists, with DA develop solicitation strategy and solicit gifts.
With executive director, create and implement a Board development engagement and giving plan. Meet individually with each Board member to discuss engagement and giving.
With the executive director, identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors above the $5k level via personal notes and phone calls to thank them for their current/previous gift, identify and engage them in program interests, provide program updates, prepare and deliver customized solicitations to augment and upgrade their direct response giving, and steward the relationship.
Oversee grant process and grant writer.
Monitor progress towards development overall and campaign goals.
Manage the freelance event professional who is responsible for the large (signature) fundraising events & manages those committees.
As with life, priorities and duties can shift or be added to be as effective as possible for our scholars.
Bring Your Expertise:
A demonstrated successful track record in cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors and prospects.
Ability to engage and inspire active community support of BHGH and convey passion for BHGH's mission.
Savvy diplomatic skills and a natural affinity for cultivating relationships and persuading, convening, facilitating, and building rapport among donors and potential donors.
Comfort and effectiveness with public speaking.
Reliable use and management of various software/communication systems. Knowledge of Salesforce CRM preferred.
Demonstrated record of completing assignments, multi-tasking, meeting deadlines, and working with minimal supervision.
Attention to detail and strong project management skills, ability to work as part of a team, and professional attitude and appearance are required.
