Description
The Department of Medicine will hire a Staff Research Associate I to support our research on how the autonomic nervous system regulates the heart, particularly in the context of heart failure and arrhythmias. Our team uses leading techniques in cardiac electrophysiology and neuroscience to study neural control of the heart in large animal models. Research involves surgical dissection, collecting hemodynamic, electrophysiological, neural data, and performing molecular biological analysis of tissues. In this role, you will assist the Principal Investigator with tasks such as immunohistochemical staining, sample collection, large animal surgery, tissue processing, microscopy, and data analysis.
Hourly range: $26.52-$31.63

REQUIRED:
Skills to perform technical procedures in a timely and accurate mannerDemonstrated ability to work well with othersAbility to work on routine assignments with minimal supervisionDemonstrated ability to keep accurate recordsSkills in preparing buffers, solutions, and reagentsSkills in basic computer use, Microsoft Excel, Office, Powerpoint
PREFERRED:
Must have experience with immunohistochemistry and confocal microscopyBS degree in biochemistry, physiology, biology or equivalentSkills in animal handling and surgical proceduresSkill to perform surgical procedures in a lab setting on animals
