The Baton Rouge Alliance for Students Action works in partnership with parents, community, civic leaders and policymakers to achieve the shared goal of an excellent education for every Baton Rouge student. We are dedicated to elevating the voice of students and families in our community. The Alliance’s work focuses on the areas of: Empowering Families, Elevating Community and Engaging Leaders. The Alliance’s Project Director is charged with overseeing a network of contractors providing services related to parent and educator organizing, leading content development for signature organizational programs, and ownership of the organization’s customer relationship management program.OBJECTIVES & RESPONSIBILITIESDevelop a deep understanding of the organization’s goals and theory of actionCreate and execute a plan for maintaining updated contact information for the Alliance’s stakeholdersLead execution of the organization’s ladders of engagement as pertains to our customer relationship management databaseDevelop, refine, and execute project plans for signature organizational programs as assigned, working cross-team to support overall organizational successManage a portfolio of contractors providing services to the organization, including:Collaborate with senior team to determine and define project scopes and objectivesEstimate resources needed to reach objectives and manage resources in an effective and efficient mannerPrepare budget based on scope of work, resource requirements, and senior team inputDevelop and manage detailed project schedules and work plansProvide project updates on a consistent basis to various stakeholders about strategy, adjustments, progress, and successAssign tasks and communicate expected deliverables and timelinesMeasure project performance to identify areas for improvementOther duties as assignedEDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONSMinimum: Associate’s degree (Bachelor’s degree preferred); or comparable professional experienceA demonstrated commitment to ensuring access to high-quality school options for every student in Baton Rouge5+ years of project management, program management, data integrity, or related experienceProject Management Professional (PMP) certification preferredProven ability to solve problems creatively and quicklyStrong organizational skillsA “bias toward action”Experience seeing projects through the full life cycleExcellent analytical skillsStrong interpersonal skills and extremely resourcefulProven ability to complete projects according to outlined scope, budget, and timelineProficient with Microsoft: Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPointA desire to work within a diverse, collaborative, and driven professional environmentWORK DEMANDSA belief that all children can learn and deserve an opportunity to attend an excellent public schoolExperience developing and implementing an organizing, communications, and/or advocacy strategy or initiativeA demonstrated ability to convey organizational views in a compelling way to a variety of individuals via multiple mediumsFamiliarity with local and state political processesBig picture thinkingAbility to successfully adapt to professional situations, both formal and informalFamiliarity with local political, cultural, and power dynamicsElevate stakeholder voice in K12 education policyComfort serving as an outspoken messenger for the Alliance’s policy agendaCOMPENSATIONThis is a full-time role offering compensation that is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications.
