Director of FinanceLocation: Kansas City, MO, 64130The Director of Finance will oversee the financial operations of Legal Aid of Western Missouri. This position is housed in Legal Aid's Central Office located in Kansas City and this person reports to the Executive Director.
Some of the duties include:
Work with the Executive Director in developing long term financial strategies for the organization, including forecasting and budgeting.
Work closely with the Executive Director and the Board's Finance Committee in helping to establish the financial vision of the organization.
Provide financial direction that preserves the organization's future.
Oversight of grant budget spend-down.
Ensure financial records are maintained in accordance with GAAP, LSC, organizational policies and any funding requirements.
Work directly with development team to prepare the finance side of grant proposals for federal, state, city, and/or private funding. Once a grant is funded, ensure that all financial grant requirements are met.
Prepare monthly, quarterly and yearly financial statements and projections.
Prepare for audits conducted by external funders and for internal compliance.
Oversight of account reconciliations, including bank and investment statements and balance sheet accounts.
Identify and implement improvement to streamline processes for efficiency and effectiveness while still following LAWMO, LSC and GAAP principles.
Effectively supervise the finance team.
Respond to all correspondence in a timely fashion.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Management or Finance.
A minimum of five years' experience in a supervisory financial role including significant experience in accounting; experience with grants is preferred.
Ability to analyze and interpret accounting data with analytical and problem solving skills.
Strong understanding of accounting theory and audits.
Highly detail-oriented and organized in work.
Ability to act and operate independently.
Salary: $75,000 yearly + DOE
