Role Overview

The Director of Finance and Operations at Intown Cares will be working collaboratively with the Executive Director, Leadership Team, and Board of Directors and be responsible for directly overseeing and managing the finance, human resources, and operations functions and related staff. The Director of Finance and Operations at Intown Cares works with staff and contractors to manage day-to-day operations of the organization, help set Intown Care's strategic direction, ensure the quality of Intown Care's work, and support the staff and organization in attaining their goals.

The Director of Finance and Operations manages the financial functions of the organization, including the development, implementation and maintenance of all accounting and financial management policies, procedures and systems. The Director of Finance and Operations provides strategic financial analysis with recommendations supporting strategic goals in areas of responsibility and organizational viability. They continuously assess organizational capacity, reporting financial results and providing recommendations for change management. This role serves as the finance liaison to the Finance Committee and to the Board of Directors.

The Director of Finance and Operations also oversees and manages the HR function of the organization including setting Intown Care's overall people goals, managing the performance evaluation and management processes, and coordinating with external HR support for any HR issues that may arise. Serves as the HR liaison to the Organizational Effectiveness Committee of the Board.

The Director of Finance and Operations provides strong and effective leadership by defining operational expectations, monitoring progress in achieving those expectations, providing a work environment supportive of organizational accomplishments and individual growth.

Responsibilities

Financial Management

Manage the annual budgeting process, from current year financial analysis, budget creation, committee approval, and board approval.

Provide reports, analysis and financial information to the Executive Director, Leadership Team, Financial Stability Committee of the Board and at appropriate Board meetings.

Supervise financial contractor to ensure accurate and accountable financial systems and to ensure smooth and timely audit process.

Supervise Grants Manager in reporting, grants compliance, and support of government and other grant reports and applications.

Assist Leadership Team with grant, contract, and other financial budget and reporting to ensure compliance with all financial requirements.

Human Resources Management

Ensure high quality system for hiring, managing, and retaining racially diverse, mission-focused employees from a wide variety of backgrounds.

Administer various human resource plans and procedures for all organization employees, including developing and implementing policies and procedures.

Oversee benefits management, performance management, onboarding, and policy development and implementation.

Oversee employment law compliance and payroll functions.

Maintain employee files and organization charts.

Negotiate and manage employee benefits plans, including claims resolution.

Coordinate recruitment efforts, new-employee orientations, and exit interviews.

Coach and guide managers in employee disciplinary actions.

Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment and benefits laws and regulations.

Supervise human resources contractor.

Operations Management

Manage the internal operations of the organization, including resource procurement and allocation, vendor relationships, and maintenance of facilities and equipment.

Create guidelines for efficient operations.

Supervise the Operations Associate.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience required.

5+ years of experience in senior organizational administration.

Minimum 3 years supervisory experience required.

Exceptional judgment, collaboration, written and verbal communication skills.

Collaborative team member – seeks opportunities to work together, demonstrating mutual trust, respect, and accountability across teams.

Ability to handle complex situations and multiple responsibilities simultaneously mixing long-term projects with the urgency of immediate demands.

Required Skills and Abilities

Solid fiscal management and strategic planning skills with ability to coach and guide Intown Care's growing team.

Demonstrated success as a supervisor.

Expertise in financial planning and analysis is preferred.

Grants management experience a plus.

Expertise in MS Excel and Quickbooks.

Salary Range

$80,000-$95,000, commensurate with experience, plus health insurance and 403(b) retirement program, with employer match.
