We are seeking an energetic self-starter for a unique opportunity to assume the role of Counsel on the Investment Services Legal team supporting each of our Credit Services and Trade Finance businesses. This role is located in Pittsburgh, PA – working on a hybrid schedule.
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
Advise on all aspects of commercial lending and trade finance transactions, products, programs, platforms, processes and related matters.Structure, document, negotiate and close commercial lending transactions.Negotiate and draft transactional agreements for BNY Trade Finance business, including those related to supply chain finance, receivables finance, risk distribution, white label outsourcing, and a broad range of traditional trade-finance products such as letters of credit, trade loans and the discounting of instruments and documents.Manage escalations from various business stakeholders internally and outside counsel on transactional and documentation issues.Assist on special, regional and global projects as required for the Credit Services and Trade Finance businesses.Interact with senior management and relevant business stakeholders.Partner with control functions serving in an advisory or oversight capacity, such as Risk, Audit and Compliance.Manage outside counsel and advise on business, regulatory and legal developments.Collaborate with the Treasury Services Payments and Liquidity Services Legal Team, as needed.Negotiate servicing outsourcing contracts.
To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following:Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and a member of the Pennsylvania or New York Bar.5 years’ minimum of total work experience as a qualified attorney, preferably representing major financial institutions in lending transactions.Commercial real estate, fund finance or supply chain finance a plus.Cross-border transactional experience a plus.Ability to handle a diverse and demanding workload.Excellent negotiation, analytical, problem-solving, drafting and communications skills.Ability to function independently, but also as part of effective teams.
