Department Summary

The University of North Texas G. Brint Ryan College of Business is one of the largest business schools in the nation, continuously accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) since 1961.

Position Overview

This position is responsible for all aspects of financial operations, including financial analysis, planning, and reporting. The budget officer will work closely with the Dean to develop and coordinate the College's annual budget planning process and funding strategies.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree with coursework in accounting, finance, business, or related field and 7 years of financial administration or budget management experience. Education may be substituted for required experience, but experience may not be substituted for education.

Extensive knowledge of University fiscal and administrative policies.

Strong supervisory skills and ability to establish effective working relationships.

Exceptional written and oral communication skills.

Knowledge of electronic information and accounting systems.

Ability to work independently and make informed decisions.

Ability to plan and organize multiple programs effectively.

Ability to handle complex and confidential tasks.

Knowledge of safe working procedures related to the work performed.

Preferred Qualifications

Accounting degree with CPA certification.

Job Duties:

Supports Dean and college leadership in strategic financial analyses and budget management.

Manages the college’s annual budget and collaborates with university financial officials.

Ensures compliance with federal cost principles and university policies for sponsored project accounts.

Utilizes information technology tools for financial management information.

Provides direction to department chairs in budget preparation and compliance.

Tracks and monitors non-appropriated accounts for compliance.

Prepares detailed data for the College’s accrediting entity for reaccreditation review.

Work Schedule:

Monday through Friday 8:00am - 5pm; may include some nights and weekends.
