MISSION: Optimize the health, development, education, and well-being of babies, toddlers, and preschoolers through a family-driven, equitable, community-based system of high-quality prenatal and early childhood programs and services.

The Early Childhood Education and Care Department was established on July 1, 2020. The Department's aim is to create a more cohesive, equitable, and effective early childhood system in New Mexico. That means coordinating a continuum of programs from prenatal to five and ensuring that families in every corner of the state can access the services they need.

Why does the job exist?

The purpose of this position is to lead the federally mandated improper payments and error rate review process and ensure that information learned from this process is used to decrease error rates in the child care assistance program. This is achieved by providing technical assistance, making training recommendations, and updating policies and procedures.

How does it get done?

This position will assist in the planning and development of best practices for service delivery, including training and technical assistance for child care services programs. This position will work with management and assist with all system developments and testing. This position will also be updating procedure manual for child care assistance and licensing programs as necessary and also responding to survey requests. This position will follow extensive procedures using Microsoft Excel spreadsheets, Microsoft Word with complex functions. Work on special assignments and projects as assigned and complete them within the required deadlines.

ECECD staff, NM Citizens, and other internal and external customers.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will possess the following: supervisory experience, strong communication skills, experience with a variety of software application including but not limited to database programs, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Office 365 programs. The ideal candidate will pay attention to details, have the ability to work on an array of projects, possesses the ability to problem solve independently, and utilize the ability to work cooperatively.

Minimum Qualification

Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and two (2) years of experience in the procedures of business and management principles involved in strategic planning. Substitutions Apply. See Substitution Table below.

Employment Requirements

Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Pre-employment background investigation is required and is conditional pending results.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive computer and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, bending, and reaching may be required. Direct client interaction and some travel may be required.
