Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Legal Assistant to join our team. The Legal Assistant will provide administrative support to attorneys and paralegals, assisting with various legal tasks and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations within the firm.

Responsibilities:

1.Administrative Support: Assist attorneys and paralegals with administrative tasks, including managing calendars, scheduling appointments, and coordinating meetings.

2.Document Preparation: Draft and proofread legal documents, correspondence, and other materials as needed.

3.Client Communication: Communicate with clients, courts, and other parties via phone, email, and in-person to provide updates, gather information, and schedule appointments.

4.File Management: Organize and maintain physical and electronic files, ensuring that all documents are accurately labeled, filed, and stored.

5.Research Assistance: Conduct legal research using online databases and other resources under the direction of attorneys and paralegals.

6.Court Filings: Assist with the preparation, filing, and service of legal documents with courts and other relevant parties.

7.Billing and Timekeeping: Track billable hours and expenses, prepare invoices, and assist with client billing as needed.

8.Case Management: Assist in managing case files, including opening new files, updating case statuses, and maintaining case calendars and deadlines.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or paralegal certification preferred.
  • Previous experience working as a legal assistant or in a similar administrative role.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal software programs (e.g., Clio, LexisNexis).
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in all work tasks.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion with sensitive information.
  • Knowledge of legal terminology and procedures preferred.
