Job Details

The Legal Assistant will provide comprehensive administrative and clerical support to attorneys and paralegals in various practice areas, including litigation, corporate law, real estate, and bankruptcy.

The ideal candidate will possess exceptional organizational skills, a strong work ethic, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and format legal documents such as pleadings, briefs, contracts, and correspondence.
  • Assist in managing attorney schedules, including coordinating meetings, court appearances, and depositions.
  • File and serve legal documents with courts and other regulatory bodies in compliance with relevant deadlines.
  • Conduct legal research using online resources and library materials as directed by attorneys.
  • Maintain and organize case files, both physical and electronic, ensuring documents are up-to-date and easily accessible.
  • Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and court staff in a professional manner.
  • Assist with the preparation of trial materials and exhibits, including organizing evidence and witness lists.
  • Enter and track attorney billable hours and expenses, ensuring timely and accurate submission.
  • Manage incoming and outgoing correspondence, including emails, phone calls, and mail.
  • Handle administrative tasks such as photocopying, scanning, and document preparation.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience as a legal assistant in a law firm setting, preferably in litigation, real estate, or corporate law.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and legal research tools (Westlaw, LexisNexis).
  • Familiarity with e-filing systems and court procedures.
  • Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Capable of handling sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • A professional demeanor with a client-first attitude.
