Location:

This is a full time position located in Salt Lake City, UT. We welcome applicants from all states, but would require you to move to Salt Lake City for the role.

Job Summary:We are seeking an experienced and dynamic General Manager to lead our authentic gourmet grocery store. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of the specialty grocery retail business, and a passion for providing exceptional customer service. The General Manager will be responsible for overseeing all store operations, ensuring sustainable revenue growth and profitability, and maintaining the highest standards of product quality and people engagement. The GM is responsible for creating an inspiring experience for our team and our guests by meeting and exceeding our guests' expectations and providing excellent internal service to the team; and always strengthening relationships with our vendor sources.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and Management:

Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team through staff engagement, growth, accountability and retention.

Monitor staff performance through motivating, coaching and performance improvement plans via quarterly feedback conversations.

Train and coach staff on inventory management best practices, hospitality principles and financial basics.

Operational Excellence:

Oversee daily store operations, including exceptional merchandising, opening and closing procedures, and inventory management.

Ensure the overall store appearance is exceptional by monitoring the entire store throughout the shift, investing most of their shift on the sales floor.

Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.

Customer Experience:

Uphold the highest standards of customer service, ensuring a welcoming and personalized shopping experience for all customers.

Address and resolve customer complaints and concerns promptly and professionally.

Develop and implement strategies to enhance customer loyalty and satisfaction.

Financial Management:

Manage the store's budget, including labor costs, inventory expenses, and other operational costs.

Drive sales and profitability through effective merchandising, promotions, and marketing initiatives; in collaboration with our vendors.

Support the Procurement Manager in analyzing financial reports, making data-driven decisions to achieve business goals.

Inventory and Merchandising:

Oversee inventory levels to ensure product sales growth and availability while minimizing waste and shrinkage.

Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to source authentic, high-integrity products that exceed customer preferences.

Implement effective merchandising strategies to highlight key products and seasonal items.

Compliance and Safety:

Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and food handling regulations.

Maintain a safe and secure store environment for employees and customers.

Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure adherence to company policies and standards.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree preferred, or commensurate experience.

Proven experience in a similar leadership role in the grocery or retail industry.

Strong understanding of good food grocery store operations, including inventory management, merchandising, vendor relations, and customer service.

Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Ability to analyze financial data and make informed business decisions.

Exceptional problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.

Proficient in using retail management software and ability to learn new technologies.
