This position functions as the improvement specialist in the department. The position will oversee the implementation of various initiatives designed to transform and improve the delivery of patient care. The position partners with the department leadership team to develop and prioritize new initiatives as well as stabilize and fully implement a number of existing initiatives around patient access and patient flow. The position will work with existing data and coordinate the efforts of the management team to help drive results that are aligned with department and University goals. Independently uses skills as an experienced organizational consultant with lean process improvement skills. Routinely applies project management and organization skills to drive outcomes. Is proficient in the identification and resolution of moderate to complex organizational issues. Works on strategic organizational consulting issues that are diverse in scope, where analysis of situations requires evaluation of various factors and lean thinking. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.The salary range for this position is $75,700 - $160,500 (Annual Rate).Department Description

The Department of General Internal Medicine (DGIM) delivers primary care to approximately 23,000 empaneled patients. DGIM has four practices located on the Mount Zion campus. The department includes a residency training program with approximately 75 residents.Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related area and / or equivalent experience/training.Three or more years of relevant experience.Has thorough knowledge of the organizational development and effectiveness field, theories, models to assess, design and implement customized organizational interventions.Has experience and training in lean process improvement tools and methods.Demonstrates analytical, problem-solving, project planning, and implementation skills.Skilled in facilitation, consulting, and relationship building.Is seasoned in organizing the work of teams and overall organization tactics.Possesses effective verbal and written communication skills.Demonstrates ability to learn quickly, reason, synthesize, and generalize based on information obtained.Ability to focus on priorities, strategies, and vision.Ability to coach, facilitate, and influence people.Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in a related area and /or equivalent experience/training.Lean or comparable certification.About UCSF
