Position OverviewThe Safety Assurance Manager will lead the Internal Evaluation Program, ensuring that all operations adhere to the highest safety standards and regulatory requirements. This role involves managing safety audits, maintaining compliance, and preparing detailed reports on audit findings for the Director of Safety. The successful candidate will bring a deep understanding of aviation safety practices and a commitment to operational excellence.

Responsibilities

Create, implement, and continuously enhance the internal evaluation program to ensure it meets aviation safety standards and regulatory requirements. This includes developing audit procedures, establishing audit criteria, and incorporating best practices to improve overall quality assurance.

Conduct thorough and systematic audits of operational, safety, and quality processes within the organization. This involves evaluating adherence to procedures, identifying areas for improvement, and ensuring that all aspects of the operation comply with safety and regulatory standards.

Compile detailed audit reports that summarize findings, highlight any issues or non-compliances, and recommend corrective actions. Present these reports to the Director of Safety and other relevant stakeholders, ensuring clear communication of audit results and proposed improvements.

Oversee and enforce adherence to the Safety Management System (SMS), ensuring that all safety policies, procedures, and practices are effectively implemented and followed. Promote a culture of safety throughout the organization by supporting and facilitating SMS-related activities and initiatives.

Track and assess the number of trained and qualified auditors to ensure they are sufficient to meet the requirements of the annual audit schedule. Identify and report any resource deficiencies or gaps to the Director of Safety, and work to address these issues to maintain an effective audit program.

QualificationsThe successful candidate must possess a strong background in aviation safety management. They will have exceptional attention to detail and a deep understanding of aviation safety standards and regulatory requirements. This individual will excel at problem-solving and thrive in a fast-paced professional environment with constantly changing priorities. They will demonstrate outstanding leadership and decision-making skills, with a strong emphasis on maintaining high safety standards and ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations.

Required:

Minimum of four years of aviation experience, including two years in an operational, safety, or quality department role.

Substantial knowledge of Safety Management Systems

Comprehensive understanding of aviation safety standards, safe airline operating practices, and applicable regulatory requirements.

Experience with safety audit programs

Preferred:

Experience in Part 121 domestic and supplemental operations

Familiar with charter operations.

Quality Auditor certification with specialized training in IOSA/ISSA Standards.

Other qualifications include:

Must have excellent computer skills, including Word and Excel, with high attention to accuracy and detail.

Must have strong interpersonal, communications, presentation and writing skills.

Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English fluently.

Must be eligible to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.

Must be comfortable occasional work in an airport environment around odors and sounds typically associated with operating aircraft.

Must be willing to travel for work.

Must be able to pass a comprehensive background check and drug test.
