POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is a member of the senior leadership team, reporting to the National CEO, and is responsible for executing a development plan for national programs. This includes cultivating, soliciting and stewarding high level individuals, companies and foundations nationally. The successful candidate will leverage their relationships and knowledge of philanthropy to help forge new relationships to build A Kid Again’s visibility, impact, and financial resources on a national scale.

The SVP of Philanthropy is responsible for identifying high-capacity prospects, supporters, and donors as well as representing the organization at key donor meetings and events, articulating the organization’s mission, operational strategies, and successes. The SVP of Philanthropy will manage a team of individuals who are responsible for foundation relationships, fundraising events, and third-party support.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Manage a full-scale development program, including major gifts, corporate partnerships, grants, annual giving, gift processing and acknowledgment, and other support.

Refine development processes and controls that maximize efficiency and drive results.

Support and partner with the CEO, senior leadership and board members on all major fundraising initiatives.

Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward gifts and pledges from an active portfolio of key major gift prospects, maintaining and managing a personal portfolio of prospects.

Manage and nurture the current internal development team of two, to achieve or exceed their revenue targets.

Demonstrate a sound understanding of different planned giving vehicles, assisting in building out an organizational donor circle and planned giving program.

Work in partnership with chapter Executive Directors and staff to optimize giving at local, regional and national levels.

Collaborate with national marketing team on organization-wide campaigns and initiatives that tell stories, share outcomes, and highlight partners.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

10+ years’ experience working successfully in a fundraising role, preferably with time spent in a development leadership position at a national organization.

Experience with a nonprofit that has a regionalized chapter model is ideal.

Experience working with a national board and major gift donors is necessary, with a proven record of securing six-figure gifts.

Strong understanding and experience in donor databases, preferably Blackbaud/Raiser’s Edge.

Successful candidate will have a background building and scaling revenue within a growing organization, with specific experience in growing a national fundraising event.

Bachelor’s Degree required. CFRE preferred.
