Position Information

This is a grant-funded position, assigned to the Cobb County District Attorney's Office. Please note, this grant funded position is contingent upon ongoing funding approval, even after hiring.

The Family Advocacy Center is a Family Justice Centers, evidence-based model that establishes a collaborative community response with local law enforcement and domestic violence service providers to address and reduce the incidents of domestic violence, child and elder abuse, sexual assault, human trafficking, and stalking. This multi-disciplinary, multi-agency framework has been studied and recognized as a best practice to improve services for survivors of family violence, advance the criminal justice response, improve the civil legal response to domestic violence, and most importantly, increase victim safety and access to critical services.

The purpose of this position is to recruit, train, schedule, and supervise citizen volunteers and school interns selected to work with the Family Advocacy Center.Essential Functions

Develops, coordinates, implements, and oversees the volunteer program consistent with the mission and goals of the Family Advocacy Center.

Uses a variety of recruitment and retention strategies to recruit, cultivate, and steward a sustainable pool of volunteers and interns.

Develops volunteer and intern curriculum and coordinates, conducts, and facilitates training for volunteers and interns.

Supervises and evaluates volunteers and interns. May coach and counsel volunteers and interns on all relevant personnel issues and concerns.

Serves as a liaison between FAC staff, partner agency, Universities, and volunteers and interns; meets with leadership team to determine the type and level of volunteer/intern service needs; resolves problems.

Performs a variety of administrative tasks including developing and/or revising policies and procedures, preparing presentations and maintaining data records and files.

Manages and maintains a volunteer and intern database, including tracking volunteer hours, records on activities and performance of volunteers, preparing reports, as needed.

Develops and maintains cooperative efforts and relationships with public and private agencies, organizations, associations and groups to promote volunteer and intern programs.

Interviews prospective volunteers and interns, conducts orientation for those selected, and makes work assignments on the basis of individual interests, abilities, time available for duty, and the needs of the FAC.

Edits reports and documents for accuracy, relevancy, and grammar.

Serves as a liaison between volunteers and internal/external collateral entities to promote advocacy for FAC clients.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in in Human Services, Public Administration, Social Work, Criminal Justice or related field; supplemented by two years' experience working with volunteers, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.Licenses and Certifications

Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.Physical Abilities

Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or work station.

Sensory Requirements

Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate colors or shades of colors and sounds. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
