TITLE:
Elementary Athletic Program Director
Boys Basketball
REPORTS TO:
Director of Districtwide Programs
JOB GOAL:
To instruct all student participants in the fundamental skills and knowledge of the sport or activity; to provide an atmosphere for successful individual development through monitoring, evaluating, and reinforcing.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for developing weekly practice plans and coaching all team practices. Practices include skill stations the first two weeks and weekly practices during the season.
Provide leadership to staff and volunteer coaches; communicate practice plans, provide direction on how to properly implement, and evaluate performance.
Complete Site Supervisor duties which consist of opening and closing the site.
Serve as Game Day Supervisor; help setup playing area for games, ensure games start on time, help maintain a positive atmosphere for all players, parents, and coaches.
Must have thorough knowledge of fundamental skills of the sport and experience coaching children ages 4-13.
Instruction should be progressive and outline skills that will be taught for each age level, including a season outline of fundamental skills players should expect to learn, and weekly practice plans.
Ensure training, clinics, and resources for staff and volunteer coaches are met.
Communicate program expectations and rules to the participants/spectators.
Assist in problem solving with participant conflicts.
Communicate pertinent program information or needs to the Director of Districtwide Programs.
Administer basic first aid and complete and submit accident report forms.
Assist with the recruitment of parent coaches.
Facilitate distribution and collection of program materials as assigned.
Serve as a mentor for the youth sports program officials.
Work with high school head coaches to ensure skills and expectations of the program are established.
Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Be 21 years of age or older.
High school diploma or G.E.D.
Pass a background check.
Certified in CPR and AED. This certification must be current.
Experience in coaching school affiliated sports preferred.
Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Satisfactory completion of State mandated health examination.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the Athletic Director and Principal.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Salary commensurate with the Fairview Independent Schools Salary Schedule.
