Research Scientist- Discovery ImmunologyGilead seeks highly motivated and collaborative scientists to drive research efforts to discover and develop novel therapies for the treatment of inflammatory diseases, including inflammatory bowel diseases, autoimmune diseases (RA, Lupus), or inflammatory dermatoses (AD, PsO). Successful candidates will support discovery and translational research activities aimed at characterizing novel therapeutic targets and advancing discovery programs to the clinic. Our scientists work within an established group focused on developing drugs for inflammatory diseases and interface with multidisciplinary project teams.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Independently design, conduct and analyze experiments to support the initiation and/or advancement of therapeutic candidates.

Design, execute and analyze key in vivo pharmacology experiments to validate potential therapeutic targets, and lead early research to advance the biology of novel targets/pathways.

Manage multiple projects at any given time, and work in a fast-paced, cross-functional, and highly collaborative team environment.

Present research findings and recommendations to senior staff, prepare research reports and peer-reviewed manuscripts, and contribute to the preparation of INDs and patent filings.

May manage and train Research Associates in the design, initiation, and execution of laboratory experimentation with a “lead from the bench” approach.

Work closely with academic collaborators and outside entities to advance research needs.

Demonstrates strong communication skills (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills to communicate ideas, objectives, and results.

Knowledge, Experience and Skills:

Ph.D. with 0-2+ years of industry experience and track record of success in academia.

Demonstrated record of research productivity as evidenced by first-authored publications in top research journals.

Experience and knowledge in one of the following areas including but not limited to inflammatory bowel disease, immune cell signaling, T cell biology, B cell biology.

The salary range for this position is: $143,225.00 - $185,350.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package.
