Created in 1993, LAHSA is a joint powers authority of the city and county of Los Angeles. As the lead agency in the HUD-funded Los Angeles Continuum of Care, we coordinate and manage over $800 million annually in federal, state, county, and city funds for programs providing shelter, housing, and services to people experiencing homelessness.

Under the direction of the Multi-Departmental Crisis Response Team, these positions will support the Regional Navigation Center(s) by ensuring document review, accuracy, and delivery. Resident Advocates will track participants, help remove barriers, and assist with document compilation in preparation for housing.

Candidates may be required to work morning, evening, and overnight shifts, including weekends and holidays.Ability to work independently as one point of contact connecting clients with housing navigators, while remaining empathetic.Ability to complete applications to obtain IDs and Social Security cards for clients.Ability to navigate government websites to assist clients in acquiring necessary documentation.Ensure that all services are documented in a timely and thorough manner.Compliance with information and security policy and procedures.Transporting clients for document processing, drop off, and retrieval.Log and document appropriate shift and resident information by the end of each shift.Perform necessary shelter operations, including but not limited to serving meals, doing chores, taking inventory, sorting donations, etc.Maintain accurate client records.Perform other duties as assigned.Knowledge and experience working with co-occurring populations (chronic health conditions, mental health, and substance abuse).Knowledge and experience with motivational interviewing, evidence-based practices, including trauma-informed care framework.Understanding of Housing-First model of housing, harm reduction, and homeless services within the service area.Strong belief in growth mindset, self-determination, and psychological resilience.Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.Capability to handle multiple tasks, including service provision, documentation, and crisis intervention.

Proven professional experience and educational background.Candidate must have a valid California Drivers’ License and a good driving record for a minimum of 3 years.ScheduleThe Chief Executive Officer or designee may change the schedule of positions between hybrid and onsite, as necessary to accomplish LAHSA's business needs.
