The mission of UCP-Center for Disability Services empowers individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live fulfilling and independent lives by providing a range of innovative, compassionate, and comprehensive programs and services that promote independence, enjoyment, inclusion, self-advocacy, and a high quality of life. UCP-Center for Disabilities currently serves approximately 300 people annually with a multimillion-dollar budget.

Position Summary:

The Director of Finance will play a critical leadership role at UCP-Center for Disability Services, overseeing all financial operations of the organization. This position requires a mission-driven professional to ensure the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of financial information, while compliance with applicable laws and regulations in the nonprofit sector. The Director of Finance will collaborate with the Executive Director and agency’s leadership to develop financial strategies that support organizational goals and enhance sustainability.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS/ACCOUNTABILITIES

Ensure timely and accurate financial statements and reports are prepared in accordance with GAAP and provided to the Executive Director and the Board of Directors.

Prepare, generate, and monitor monthly income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and detailed reports on accounts receivable and payable.

Assure the integrity of all administrative functions including accounting, treasury, credit/collections, audit, risk management, planning and analysis, budgeting, tax, and purchasing.

Prepare and submit all required regulatory reports, including tax returns and CFR (Consolidated Fiscal Reporting) for the Therapeutic Day School and Community Day Services programs.

Oversee cash flow, investments, investment strategies, and treasury management activities.

Manage banking relationships and financing strategies to maintain organizational liquidity.

Ensure accurate cash projections and funding availability for day-to-day operations and program expenditures.

Oversee financial aspects of grants and contracts, including budgeting, tracking expenses, and reporting.

Ensure proper financial compliance with grant requirements, ensuring funds are used appropriately and transparently.

In collaboration with the Executive Director, develop and monitor the organization’s budget, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and effective resource allocation.

Oversee cash, investment activities, and treasury management to ensure the availability of funds needed for operational and programmatic activities.

In collaboration with the Finance Committee, develop and execute sound investment strategies.

After receiving board approval, develop, implement, and maintain financial policies and procedures that comply with GAAP and align with best practices in nonprofit finance.

Supervise and mentor the Accounting Assistant, facilitating professional development and ensuring high performance.

Stay updated on nonprofit audit best practices, state and federal laws, and regulations regarding nonprofit operations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

A. Education/Certification

Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Finance, Accounting, or related field. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.

B. Experience

Minimum of 5 years of progressive finance and accounting experience, ideally in a nonprofit or similar organization.

Experience in nonprofit fund and grant accounting, compliance, and reporting.

C. Vehicle/Transportation Requirements

Valid driver’s license.

Auto insurance.

Reliable vehicle.

D. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills; ability to engage with diverse groups.

Proven team-player with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.

Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills.

Proficient in accounting software, specifically Blackbaud’s Financial Edge.

Knowledge of state and federal funding sources.

Knowledge of governmental regulations for nonprofit organizations.

Comprehensive understanding of funding agencies, budgets, and reporting forms.

Overall understanding of nonprofit accounting systems.

Ability to prioritize, organize, complete and delegate assignments, and meet deadlines.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $70,000.00 per year
