As a Paralegal Specialist in the Criminal Division, you will:Review and organize complex factual material and other documentary data for investigations and trials.Provide advice on the most efficient method for preparing legal documents.Use tables and citation checking with efficiency.Prepare a variety of substantive legal documents including extradition requests, grand jury and trial subpoenas, interrogatory requests, and documentation relevant to acquiring evidence or testimony.Develop and enter various case material into a computer database.Prepare charts, graphs, and tables to illustrate results.Prepare, develop, compile, or maintain jury instructions in preparation for trial.Prepare exhibits for trial which typically involve a wide range of visual materials.Provide litigation case management and organize cases for court presentation.Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.Requirements:Conditions of Employment:Qualifications:GS-7: To be eligible at the GS-7 level, you must meet at least ONE of the following conditions:Specialized experience:

One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-5 level.Education:

One year of graduate education in an accredited college or university.Superior Academic Achievement:

To be eligible for SAA you must have one of the following:A standing in the upper third of your college class or major subdivision at the time you apply.A grade point average of "B" (3.0 on a 4.0 scale) or its equivalent for all courses completed.A "B+" (3.5 on a 4.0 scale) or its equivalent for all courses completed in a qualifying major field of study.Election to membership in one of the national honorary societies (other than freshman societies).GS-9: To be eligible for the GS-9, you must meet at least ONE of the following conditions:Specialized Experience:

One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 level in Federal service.Education:

Possess one of the following types of education in a related field: a J.D. or LL.B; OR a Master's or equivalent graduate degree or higher; OR 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree.To be qualified, you must type at least 40 words per minute based on a 5-minute sample with three or fewer errors. (A typing test may later be required.)Additional Information:
