vdl.uada.eduSummary of Job Duties:The Administrative Specialist III is responsible for coordinating office activities, researching and preparing special reports, and developing, revising, and recommending administrative policies and procedures as directed by the supervisor. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency policy.

The Administrative Specialist will be performing work in the UADA Leland Tollett Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory. This position is the primary point of contact for the public. The applicant must have experience working with the public, have strong communication skills, and present oneself professionally. Responsibilities include performing administrative and secretarial duties including entering data, maintaining, analyzing, and reporting laboratory information, which includes private client information. Must be able to master additional software applications (Laboratory Information Management Software or LIMS, etc.). The Administrative Specialist will be required to participate in laboratory quality management and safety programs, ensuring compliance, documentation, review, and improvement of the processes and procedures to provide the highest level of client services and quality laboratory results.Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma; plus one year of specialized training in business management, business education, or a related field; plus three years of experience in a specialized or a related field applicable to work performed.

OTHER JOB-RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE.

Preferred QualificationsBachelor's Degree. Experience working with customers. Applicable computer software proficiency (e.g. Microsoft Office, Workday, etc.). Experience with veterinary, poultry, or livestock industries.
