JOB SUMMARY

***This position is funded to begin 10/1/2024***

Reporting directly to the Voting System Supervisor, responsible for the programming of electronic and paper ballots for the Williamson County Elections department. Prepares, tests, troubleshoots, and coordinates repairs for voting equipment and programming of electronic pollbooks.

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED

Maintains responsibility for the tabulation of paper and electronic ballots and the creation of election results reportsProcesses information requests for tabulation dataGathers and proofs election ballot language from various sourcesPerforms state mandated tabulation tests and manages testing membersPrepares and inventories programming media for voting equipmentAssists divisional supervisors by programming and testing various voting equipmentCoordinates and supervises annual maintenance of voting equipmentManages election setup, paper and electronic ballot creation within appropriate systemGenerates ballot proofs, printed test decks and audio files for entity approval and/or public testingPre-tests paper and electronic ballots, sets up public logic and accuracy tests of electronic voting and tabulation equipmentCoordinates, recruits, trains, and oversees personnel for required Public Logic & Accuracy testing of the voting equipmentProvides basic installation and troubleshooting support for voting system hardware, software, and network componentsAssists in creation and use of ballot style tables for manual ballot assignment proceduresCatalogs and prepares media for voting and tabulation equipmentServes as a department IT Department liaison and assist with implementing software, performing routine maintenance, performing inventory control and identifying functionality issuesProvides various election reports to the Secretary of state for primary and general elections via web portal prescribed by the stateProvides assistance on Election Day with phone support for election officials: troubleshoot technical issues and participate in election night work activitiesConfigures, maintain, and retain backups of all election system programming databases in accordance with local, state and federal lawsAssists the Operations staff in maintaining proper stock levels and inventory methodsCommunicates frequently via telephone, e-mail, and in person with poll workers and the general publicServes as a primary contact for the election Judge's hotline and assists with complex issues from elections judges and staffCross-trains with office staff in other areas to ensure continuity of departmental operationsAttends all meetings and trainings, as requiredPerforms special duties as assignedORGANIZATION RELATIONSHIPS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Associate degree in Information Technology or related field and three (3) years of experience performing database programming or related IT experience; OR an equivalent combination of education or experienceAdvanced knowledge of and skill in database and spreadsheet programsWorking knowledge of Microsoft Office SuiteLICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
