Position Overview:

The Senior Health Care Consultant will independently research, compile, and review health services information for client projects related to program design, rate setting, and program compliance issues. The Senior Health Care Consultant will prepare presentations, write deliverables, make adjustments to documents based on internal and external feedback, and provide general support for engagements with government healthcare programs, including primarily the Medicaid program. The Senior Health Care Consultant will perform analytic tasks such as data scrubbing, data review, calculating descriptive statistics, and performing scenario modeling or other related statistical/mathematical functions.

Essential Functions:

Utilizing healthcare knowledge and experience to review health services information and data for accuracy, completeness and consistency with professional standards

Documenting and reporting findings of reviews, research, and industry knowledge in accordance with project protocols

Interpreting and analyzing health care data

Facilitates client meetings, client presentations and internal team meetings, both remote (majority of time) and onsite (occasionally)

Independently determines methodologies and approach for project

Lead the development of client deliverables including data analytics and written documents.

Documenting and reporting findings of reviews and analysis in accordance with professional standards and project protocols

Working with state client personnel on both data analysis and policy review.

Manage timelines including completion of client deliverables (Excel, PowerPoint, Tableau, etc.).

Ensures all work products are technically peer reviewed and submitted for consulting review.

Actively communicates project status updates with internal team (junior and senior members).

Act as a resource for support staff.

Supports business development activities.

Maintaining security of and confidentiality of all protected health information (PHI)

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred or equivalent experience

At least 3 years’ of related experience required

Minimum three years of relevant experience in a professional environment performing actuarial, data, financial or health care related analyses and consulting is preferred

Thorough understanding of health care delivery, with emphasis on Medicaid is preferred

Ability to comprehend, manipulate, and interpret statistical data

Strong analytical and critical thinking skills

Expertise using Microsoft Office suite required

Candidate is expected to have particularly strong skills in Excel

Some experience with one or more advanced tools, such as PowerBI, Tableau, SQL Server, SAS, SQL, Python, or R preferred

Presentation skills mandatory

Proficient use of applicable technology

Relevant certification in Data Analytics and/or Program Management preferred

Experience and knowledge of state and federal healthcare regulations, including reimbursement and coverage policies

Excellent communication skills including written and verbal, including ability to present to large or small groups

Self-directed and motivated, with ability to work independently under general instructions

Ability to work in a team environment and manage multiple deadlines and prioritize assignments

Well organized with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail

Must be able to travel based on client and business needs

The Team:Myers and Stauffer takes pride in the welcoming and collaborative culture we have throughout our offices. For this position, the employee will report to one of our Managers or Senior Managers on the Nursing Facility Rate Setting & MDS engagement team.

Work Style:

This is a fully remote position unless you live near one of our 20 office locations. Our general business hours are Monday through Friday 8am-5pm, but can vary based on business needs. Dependent on performance, our in-office associates are eligible for a hybrid work schedule after their initial 90-day training period. Salary:In compliance with states that have an active pay transparency law, the annual salary target for this job in this market is $75,000-$90,000. The specific compensation for this role will be determined based on education, experience and skill set of the individual selected for this position.
