Job DescriptionSummary

The Verisk HRBP team is seeking a Senior HRBP to support Corporate Functions. This is a senior level role requiring a history of professional accomplishment, expertise, and teamwork. Our HRBP team partners with managers, employees, and other HR colleagues across a complex business to help accomplish Verisk-wide HR initiatives, and the businesses financial, cultural and market goals, through its talented people. We seek someone who enjoys making a difference by influencing not only people but also the cultural context and operational nexus within which employee work takes place. Whenever possible, we coach, mentor and support managers and employees to grow their capabilities rather than “doing” for them, and we invite those who resonate with this approach to apply.

This position is based in our Jersey City, NJ office. If you work from another location, inquire on flexibility.

We are looking to have our new Senior HRBP:

Exhibit a confident leader’s presence and gravitas to establish trusted relationships.

Demonstrate excellent judgement about business, people, strategy and risk. Apply a consultative approach to strategic business and HR objectives to optimize the organization’s greatest asset, our employees. Move beyond informing, to see and communicate strategic alternatives and make a recommendation to leaders at all levels, from front line to senior leadership.

Understand and partner to meet business goals, partnering to support objectives, productivity, and development of talent within the company. Think through and efficiently implement programs and initiatives in a complex business setting that cannot always utilize a scaled plan.

With minimal supervision, create effective plans to tackle big initiatives and gain approval and alignment as needed.

Take a strategic and efficient approach to work by creating, honoring and leveraging systemic answers rather than ad hoc resolution where appropriate.

Take a true partnered approach to issues to ensure a high level of employee engagement as well as collegiality with the HRBP and larger HR team/s. Be an enthusiastic team player with a strong commitment to actively creating a positive work environment.

Provide day-to-day performance management guidance to line management (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions). Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partner with the legal and financial teams as needed, advising the business of options and recommendations.

Provide guidance and input on business unit restructures, workforce planning and succession planning.

Manage, oversee and/or resolve complex employee relations issues. Conduct effective, thorough and objective investigations.

Analyze trends and metrics in partnership with the larger HR team and use this knowledge to support actions and programs.

In partnership with leadership, facilitate a performance oriented inclusive culture where people feel welcome and engaged and connected.

Be a culture innovator to lead and drive specific steps and action plans to cultivate engagement.

Utilizing diagnostic and project management orientation to drive change, build trust and deliver visible results.

Work closely with managers and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.

Display a desire to learn more about business and how HR is a critical strategic partner to it.

Qualifications

We are looking for our candidate to have the following skills, experience, and abilities:

Bachelor's degree and relevant industry experience. Experience supporting corporate functions in a global organization preferred.

Minimum of 8 years' experience resolving complex employee relations issues.

SHRM or other relevant certifications welcome.

Solid practical knowledge of talent management disciplines, such as: performance management, succession planning, talent planning, competency development, compensation, employee relations, and talent analytics.

Solid experience with operations and metrics.

Strategic thinker, with demonstrated experience translating strategic goals and concepts into action plans and implementing initiatives at an operational level.

Ability to manage competing, high-priority demands; prioritize workloads, and manage projects and multiple responsibilities against strict deadlines.

Knowledge of employee relations required.

Knowledge of immigration concerns preferred.

Strong interpersonal/collaboration skills. Ability to establish credibility/rapport with stakeholders at all levels.

Proven capability to redesign people work, analyze team structures and change work leveraging technology and automation in order to improve productivity and gain efficiencies maximizing the flow of work.

Superior oral and written communication skills. Ability to adjust communication style based on the audience.

Strong demonstration of analytical skills and ability to prepare executive-ready materials, including mastery of PowerPoint and Excel.
