DescriptionPerforms multi-faceted human resources functions and administrative work to assist the Director in the overall operations of the Department of Human Resources. Work involves researching, planning, implementing, coordinating, evaluating and managing human resources programs and policies related to the functional areas of the department. Oversees the activities of the department and performs accordingly in the Director’s absence.

Minimum QualificationsRequires a Bachelor’s degree in human resources management, business or public administration, or a closely related field, and 5 to 7 years of progressively responsible experience in human resources administration and management, or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

A typical way to qualify is:High School Diploma and 13 to 15 years of progressively responsible experience in human resources administration and management,

OR

an Associate's degree and 9 to 11 years of progressively responsible experience in human resources administration and management.

Supplemental InformationValid professional human resources certification is also required from SHRM, PSHRA, HRCI, World at Work or other acceptable association, or must successfully attain certification within one year from hire date as a condition of employment.

Must possess strong, demonstrated leadership abilities and have thorough knowledge and experience in the functional areas of human resources, preferably in a local government setting.

Physical DemandsMust be physically able to operate a variety of machinery and equipment including an automobile, computers, calculators, etc.
