Staff Accountant

LHH has partnered with a fantastic and growing real estate company in Owings Mills, MD to identify a Staff Accountant with proficiency in AppFolio to join a dynamic finance team! The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting principles, a keen eye for accuracy, and hands-on experience with AppFolio accounting software. This role will be responsible for managing various accounting functions, including financial reporting, account reconciliations, and ensuring the accuracy of financial transactions.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting:
Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
Account Reconciliation:
Perform regular reconciliations of bank accounts, general ledger accounts, and sub-ledgers to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
Transaction Management:
Process accounts payable and receivable transactions, including invoice processing, payment disbursements, and collections.
AppFolio Management:
Utilize AppFolio software for property management accounting, including rent roll maintenance, tenant billing, and lease management.
Budgeting & Forecasting:
Assist in the preparation and monitoring of budgets and financial forecasts.
Compliance & Controls:
Ensure compliance with accounting principles, internal controls, and company policies. Assist with audits and regulatory filings as needed.
Financial Analysis:
Provide analytical support and insights for financial decision-making, including variance analysis and cost tracking.
Documentation & Reporting:
Maintain organized financial records and documentation. Generate and present financial reports to management and stakeholders.
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Experience:
Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience, with a strong preference for candidates with experience using AppFolio.
Skills:Proficiency in AppFolio accounting software.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
Certifications:
CPA or CPA candidate is a plus, but not required.
Pay Details:
$60,000.00 to $75,000.00 per year
