The RoleWe are looking for a Valuation and Portfolio Analytics Analyst to join our valuation team. The team is responsible for preparing Audit Ready valuations for the entire a16z portfolio across all verticals, including and not limited to Crypto, American Dynamism, Bio + Health, along with early and late stage funds. The team is an integral part of the a16z financial reporting process and works closely with Fund Finance and external auditors to ensure timely release of quarterly and annual financial statements. The team member will report directly to the Valuation Manager and will work closely with the internal finance, internal portfolio facing teams and external valuation service providers to ensure accurate reporting of portfolio company valuations and a16z ownership percentages for LP reporting.
Assist in maintaining internal ownership records and valuation models
Collaborate with internal teams for preparation of portfolio company valuations including gathering private company financials, financing documents, capitalization tables, and projections as needed
Interface with the external valuation service providers to ensure timely valuation model turnaround and capitalization table updates for real-time ownership and valuation reporting
Help prepare valuation models on an ad hoc basis to support legal reporting requirements and to ensure compliance with the firm’s valuation policy
Assist with creating automated valuation reporting processes to support internal and external stakeholders
Provide investor relations support for portfolio company valuation related queries
Actively support the team during the annual external audit process
Support internal teams with special projects as needed
Stay abreast of industry changes as they relate to valuation and the a16z portfolios

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent education experience, with focus in finance, economics, or accounting
3 years of experience in public accounting (audit-advisory / transaction / valuation services), or related work experience at a PE/VC firm with an exposure to portfolio valuation
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
Strong time management skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize
Ability to deal with sensitive information and maintain confidentiality
Basic understanding of capitalization tables and equity structures
Prior understanding of ASC Topic 820 (Fair Value Standard) a plus
Understanding of partnership accounting a plus
The anticipated salary range for this role is between $121,000-$141,000, actual starting pay may vary based on a range of factors which can include experience, skills, and scope.
This role is eligible to participate in the a16z carry program and various discretionary bonus programs as well as benefit and perquisite plans including health, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, 401K plan, vacation, and sick leave.
