A law firm in San Jose, CA, is seeking a Senior Immigration Attorney to lead and mentor within their Immigration Team. This role involves managing a diverse caseload, representing clients in various immigration matters, and providing strategic legal guidance. The ideal candidate will have 5-8 years of immigration law experience, exceptional interpersonal skills, and a track record of successfully advancing cases.Duties:Report directly to the Managing Immigration Attorney and oversee a personal caseload, including client management and case oversight.Represent clients, both non-detained and detained, in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals.Prepare and submit a wide range of immigration applications, including removal defense and family-based petitions.Conduct intake interviews and visits with detained individuals at detention centers.Review and adjust immigration applications and packets to ensure they meet legal standards and address all relevant issues.Develop and present strategic legal solutions based on complex immigration concepts and regulations.Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community-based organizations to address changes in immigration law and policy.Provide strategic consultations to potential clients, determine the necessary legal strategy, and guide them through the immigration process.Develop case strategies and prepare clients and witnesses for court and USCIS testimony.Conduct thorough legal analysis to identify potential benefits and develop effective legal arguments for clients.Draft and submit legal briefs for a variety of immigration cases, ensuring accuracy and compliance with legal standards.Work collaboratively with the Immigration Team, including attorneys and legal assistants, to ensure efficient case management and support.Utilize case management software to track and manage case progress (experience preferred).Requirements:Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.Active membership in the State Bar of California.5-8 years of experience in immigration law.Experience with Family-Based Petitions, Humanitarian cases, EOIR proceedings, Detained cases, Citizenship, and other USCIS applications.Proven ability to manage a caseload effectively and advance legal cases.Skills:Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.Excellent oral advocacy and courtroom presence.High-caliber interpersonal skills and effective client communication.Ability to develop and implement strategic legal solutions.Proficiency in case management software preferred.Strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail.Collaborative team player with a proactive approach to problem-solving.Job Location:San Jose, CAMedical, dental, and vision insurance.Competitive compensation package including a 401(k) plan with employer contributions.Catered lunches.Complimentary parking.Paid time off (PTO).Additional perks and benefits.Company infoChief of Staff to Chief People OfficerSummaryWe’re looking for a self-driven, well-organized, results-focused project manager and influencer who can help us move our ambitious people strategy forward.
