Summary

The Director of Career Development is responsible for the development and implementation of career education programs and resources to help students identify and prepare for their chosen career path. As part of the Thrive Center team, contributes to the strategic areas of academic success, retention, and career readiness.Duties and Responsibilities

Provides individual career coaching in areas such as career and major exploration, life planning, goal setting, direction toward making decisions, and self-assessment; administers and interprets assessments such as the MBTI, the Strong Interest Inventory, and StrengthsFinder to help students develop self-awareness and identify strengths and interests.Administers the Montreat 360 program and develops resources and programming that support various grant projects leading to professionalism, soft skills development, and increased employability.Leads the development and delivery of career preparation programs focused on identity development, learning experiences, relationships, and application documents that lead to career readiness.Develops employer relations strategies and networks, and manages Handshake to provide students with access to job and internship opportunities, on-campus recruiting and interviewing opportunities, and off-campus networking events.Develops and conducts presentations and workshops related to career readiness skills including the job search, networking, and interviewing skills.Partners with faculty to expose students to a variety of examples of opportunities in their desired field, including employer campus visits, internship events, job fairs, etc.Creates relevant marketing strategies to publicize programs, services, and resources to Montreat College students.Manages student staff assistants who host the reception desk and support projects for the Thrive Center.This staff position holds faculty status and may include teaching in INDS-3610 or other courses in the general education curriculum.Performs other duties as necessary.This is a Full-time, 12 month, benefitted position.Qualifications

Seeking a collaborative, welcoming, service-oriented person with experience in higher education, career coaching, counseling, teaching, and/or leadership. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, proficiency in MS Office, especially Word, Excel, and Outlook. Master’s degree required in counseling, human resources, higher education, or related field.Montreat College is a Christian liberal arts college accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to offer master’s, bachelor’s, and associate degrees.
