Amigos de Guadalupe Center for Justice and Empowerment believes everyone deserves to live in a just and equitable society where every person is empowered to achieve their dreams. Since our founding in 2012, we have centered the East San Jose and Mayfair communities by providing impactful support in housing and homelessness prevention, immigration legal services, educational support, mental health services, and community organizing.Overview of Position:

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Finance and Accounting Manager oversees the day-to-day accounting and payroll functions. Their main duties include maintaining updated and accurate financial records, supervising the accounting/payroll team, training staff and employees, improving efficiencies, and managing excellent standards of accuracy and timeliness. They identify areas of potential improvement and growth and assist in the development of policies and procedures to ensure compliance with GAAP, nonprofit accounting, and the Amigos Board’s policies. Serves as a key member of the management team, as well as a partner to other departments within Amigos.Essential Functions, include but are not limited to:

Accounting

Performs the timely reconciliation of all banking, investment, payroll, credit cards, direct withdrawal accounts, and all other accounting statements requiring reconciliation. Coordinates closing cycles of financial systems in a timely manner. Ensures the accuracy and timeliness of entries in the general ledger. Resolves accounting discrepancies and irregularities immediately.Invoicing

Manages all government grants, contracts, and other invoicing activities. Utilizing fund accounting processes, accurately records the expenses and payroll to the fund on spend down or reimbursement process as necessary. Supervises Accounting/Finance staff in the accurate and timely preparation and delivery of invoices for payment. Maintains relationships with all associated funding partners.Payroll

Oversees the running of payroll accurately and on a timely basis. This includes the proper documentation of hours to programs, employee taxes, and employer retirement distribution.Budgeting, Analysis, Reporting, Forecasting, Cash-Flow

Ensures that transactions are properly coded to budgets. Works with CFO in developing organizational and program budgets. Provides scheduled and requested financial reporting and analysis of complete budget, contracts/grants, payrolls, and other accounts as requested. Provides budget and accounting forecast as requested. Supervises and advises on cash-flow.Banking, Auditors, Accountants

With the CFO, maintains relationships with banking and financial institutions. Prepares for the annual audit, tax returns, financial reports, special analyses, and informational reports.Donations

Coordinate with the donor management team to ensure accurate reporting and compliance with individual, foundation, corporate and government restricted, board restricted and grant agreements.Miscellaneous

Manages the installation, implementation, and training of all new accounting programs, apps, and systems. Other duties as assigned.Requirements (must have)

Finance/Accounting degree, 3 years as an accountant and 1 year as an assistant controller/controller or 5 years as an accountant and 1 year as an assistant controller/controllerExpert in Microsoft programs (Excel, Word), Google programs and Acrobat.Experience working with government contracts, guidelines, and regulations for fund accounting.Strong knowledge of US GAAP, accounting processes, internal controls, and systems.Able to work efficiently on multiple projects and priorities with moderate supervision.Experience in budgeting and forecasting.Payroll experience.Valid California Driver’s License.Ability to work in the US without an H-1B Visa.Finger printing to be paid for by Amigos.Must be up to date on COVID vaccinations.Ability to work various hours including nights and weekends.Preferred (nice to have)

CPA or MBAExperience working with Aplos, Gusto, Click Time, and Intacct a plus.Bilingual in English and Spanish (write and spoken).Soft Skills (people skills)
