We are seeking Trades Assistants to provide expert solutions on shipboard alterations & installation for fleet modernization in the San Diego, CA area. The selected candidate will support working on active class submarines, surface ships and shore facilities using various tools to assist with alterations and installations for fleet modernization on various contracts such as Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Naval Information Warfare Systems Command and Naval Surface Warfare Center.What You Will Do

Assists workers in the skilled maintenance trades.Performs specific or general duties of lesser skill, such as supplying or holding materials and tools; cleaning working area, machine, and equipment; and performing other unskilled tasks as directed. Tasks vary.Position may perform specialized machine operations.Performs maintenance and minor repairs to various machines under supervision.May make local pick up and deliveries of supplies and company equipment and material, paint, lag, surface preparation and minor facilities maintenance.Check and return tools from tool room.Assists in receipt and inventory of material, tools and equipment.Report any equipment failures, fixtures, or areas of the workspace in need of repair or maintenance to supervisor.Perform duties with integrity both independently and while working alongside team members.Promptly report to designated work assignments and notify supervisors of any concerns or issues which may cause delays.Adhere to company safety policies and regulations.What You Must Have

Must have a High school Diploma or Trades school equivalent (GED) and 0 years experience.Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret clearance and a DBIDS/CAC badge for base access/credentials.Must have experience working in a team environment.Must be able to travel.Must be a U.S. citizen and have a valid drivers license.Bonus Points For....

Knowledge and/or experience in a trades specialty in the following areas mechanical, electrical, electronic, welding, HVAC, and fitting.Candidates with prior marine and/or industrial experience highly desired.Candidates who are currently enrolled or a graduate from and/or completed vocational school or skilled trade certificate programs are preferred.Possession of an active DOD Clearance is a plus.Prior fire-watch training and/or experienced desired.Candidates with experience reading and using precision measuring tools (i.e. micrometers, slide calipers, indicators, voltage meters, and gages) are preferred.OSHA 10 maritime Certification is a plus.Candidates possessing a current U.S. Travel passport are preferred.Physical Requirements

Must be able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes. The exact weight requirements will be determined by the specific job, but no less than 30 lbs. Able to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces. Able to perform other duties as required which may involve high heat, humidity, noise and dirty conditions, working aloft or over the sides of vessels. May ride ships at sea for extended periods. May require wearing a respirator. Most work is performed aboard ships or in industrial conditions. Travel may be required within and outside of the continental United States.
