West Wines is looking for an energetic and entrepreneurial Tasting Room Manager to help continue to grow our wine business. As the day-to-day face of this family-operated, boutique winery, you will wear many hats: managing tasting room hospitality, planning and running winery events, managing contacts with new and existing clients, and marketing activities. By embracing the story and vision of our winery, you will translate who we are into a unique experience for the visitor in the tasting room and online.This role fits a multi-tasker who enjoys the varied responsibilities, freedom, and hands-on work involved with a small winery. The right person has the drive, creativity, and enthusiasm to work independently to create memorable wine tasting experiences, manage the part-time tasting room staff, interact with wine organizations, and maintain administrative routines. Communicating with current and future customers through our newsletter, website, and social media is an important part of the job which you will coordinate with our part-time Social Media Manager.Success will be measured by tasting room visitor traffic, sales, and wine club membership. You will report to the owners and also work with the winemaker. Your team also includes the winery cat, Jane Bond! While this is a full-time position, it can be made into an 80% work schedule, including one weekend day, depending on scheduling of the rest of the team.West Wines, www.westwines.com, is a small family-operated boutique winery in Dry Creek Valley. Our estate vineyards have been farmed since 1998 and we have produced wine commercially since 2002. The focus is on producing European style wines of high quality in limited series. West Wines initially exported wines to Northern Europe and opened a local tasting room in Dry Creek Valley ten years ago. Our Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve was selected for the Nobel Prize Awards Banquet and as a result we see many international guests.Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Manage tasting room activities, reservations, and sales, creating an outstanding customer experience.Communicate and develop relationships with customers individually and as a group.Create and execute strategies to increase tasting room traffic and sales.Schedule, train, and manage part-time tasting room team.Continue to develop Wine Club offerings with a goal of growing membership.With our social media manager, work on West Wines’s digital presence: write monthly newsletter, manage social media presence, and update website in a timely manner.Increase online sales through email and social media marketing to existing and new clients.Manage local inventory.Manage participation in industry events and West Wines events.Manage relationships with industry organizations.Develop close relationships with local industry partners such as restaurants and hotels.Understand winery vision and translate it into daily activities and online communication.Desired Skills and Experience
Entrepreneurial spirit.Customer-service focused with a sincere desire to create a memorable guest experience.Self-motivated with the ability to multi-task.Effective, dependable communicator by phone, email, and in person.Good organizational skills and attention to detail.Wine education and/or equivalent wine industry knowledge and experience.Managing and hiring employees.Ability to speak effectively in front of groups of customers.Strong digital administrative skills (MS Office suite, Teams/Zoom, POS systems, VerticalResponse).Digital marketing experience is a plus.College degree preferred.Role Requirements
The position is full-time, but can be made into an 80% part-time position, one weekend day required.Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs.At least 21 years of age.Valid driver’s license.Ability to work a flexible schedule including a weekend day per week and some holidays.Applicants who are considered for interviews need to be local for final interviews which are in person on site.
