Date: Sep 15, 2024Requisition No: 822649Agency: Department of HealthWorking Title: OPS MEDICAL MALPRACTICE INVESTIGATOR - 64801506Full-time OPS PositionHourly Pay: $21.00*This position offers the possibility of teleworking, within the coverage area, under certain conditions*Your Specific Responsibilities:Investigate allegations of state and federal laws against unlicensed individuals posing as licensed health care practitioners.Investigate alleged unlicensed activity complaints and coordinate with local law enforcement agencies for potential prosecution of criminal violations.Prepare and serve uniform unlicensed activity citations and/or cease and desist agreements in accordance with established policies and procedures.Coordinate investigative activity through legal counsel as requested or directed.Prepare comprehensive reports of final, supplemental and probation investigations.Coordinate investigations with federal, state, and local law enforcement officials and regulatory agencies as requested or directed by supervisor/manager.Testify and present evidence at administrative hearings, depositions, or trials.Serve as member of the prosecution team as directed.Develop and maintain up-to-date professional contacts with risk managers, hospital administrators, nursing directors and other health care providers.Assist in allied health investigations as needed, conduct inspections, drug profiles and undercover investigations, and serve as a mentor to new investigators, as directed.Answer public inquiries, make referrals, and promote the goals and mission of the Department.Perform other related duties as required.Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Proficient computer skills to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook; knowledge of laws, legal codes, court procedures and government rules & regulations; effective communication skills; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships; conduct fact-finding research; ability to write detailed narrative investigative reports; ability to work independently; maintain a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail; and ability to maintain strict confidentiality.Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field of study; ANDOne (1) year of investigative experience; ANDOne (1) year of professional experience from one or more of the following fields: investigative, law enforcement, regulatory inspections, or related fields.Professional experience can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.Must have a valid driver license and satisfactorily complete a background investigation.Where You Will Work:Main counties covered by office – Broward.Working for the State of Florida:As an OPS employee, the benefits below are available:State of Florida 401(a) FICA Alternative Plan (mandatory)Participation in state group insurance (upon meeting eligibility requirements)Workers’ Compensation (mandatory, if needed)Reemployment Assistance (mandatory, if needed)This position requires a security background check and/or drug screening.
