Job SummaryManages the daily operations of sports facilities, including the Owl Nest and The Perch. Supervises full-time athletic trainers and oversees athletic training services. Handles facility scheduling and space use for events and sports programs, catering to both internal and external groups. Manages staff to support facility and event operations. This hands-on role involves overseeing facility needs, construction and renovations, contracts, safety and performance on the fitness floor, cleaning and sanitizing protocols, and programming logistics. Collaborates with campus partners for additional support and facility usage.

ResponsibilitiesKEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Handles daily operations, including opening/closing buildings, setting up equipment, mitigating safety hazards, and managing facilities according to department and university standards. Acts as the liaison for multiple facilities with the KSU community.

Manages inventory, including fitness equipment, gear, check-out items, and technology components.

May perform safety and functional inspections to prevent hazards and ensure smooth operations.

Coordinates logistics, scheduling, and needs with campus partners and student leaders, ensuring shared spaces are collaboratively scheduled and addressing issues as needed.

Recruits, interviews, hires, trains, oversees, and evaluates staff, including Athletic Trainers, Facilities Graduate Assistants, and facility staff.

Contributes to the department budget process, policies, and procedures by creating, managing, and executing budget lines for capital purchases, staffing, and operations.

Manages contracts for facility renovations, custodial services, and large-scale maintenance.

Meets with potential users to identify needs, prepare quotes, and draft contracts for facility use.

Manages setups for all sports programs and external events, providing on-site oversight, including evenings and weekends, as needed.

Serves on the department's Safety and Risk Management Committee, proactively addressing areas of concern.

Acts as a CPR/First Aid instructor for the department.

Reviews and evaluates current conditions and future needs for facilities. Represents the area in construction projects, renovations, and updates.

Contributes to the mission, vision, and values of the University and assigned department.

Required QualificationsEducational RequirementsBachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a related field

Other Required QualificationsCurrent, valid, and unrestricted driver's license.CPR/First Aid Instructor Certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire

Required ExperienceSeven (7) years of relevant experience in a recreational setting

Preferred QualificationsAdditional Preferred QualificationsExperience in EMS (Event Management System), 25Live, or other event-related software/systemExperience with Fusion or other facility management software systemsExperience with When2Work, PeopleSoft, or other time management software systems

Preferred Educational QualificationsAn advanced degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a related field

Preferred ExperienceTwo (2) years of related work experience with supervisory experience
