The Office will enable the University, its faculty, staff, and students to emerge as a world-class research institution complementing our learning, service, and outreach missions.Position Summary: The Office of Industry Research Contracting within the Office of the Vice President for Research (OVPR) at Colorado State University is seeking an Industry Contracts Manager. This is a full-time, 12-month administrative professional position and reports to the Director.The Industry Contracts Manager coordinates the negotiation, execution, and administration of industry research agreements. This requires an understanding and balancing of business and academic terms desirable to the university; business aims and context of the industry research funder; legal, regulatory, and policy strictures; and the specific priorities present within each individual project.Required Job Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree and:Three years of experience reviewing or managing contracts in a university research environment;ORFive years of paralegal experience with a demonstrated ability to review and prepare a variety of commercial contracts.Ability to efficiently assess and prioritize time-sensitive items while conducting multiple concurrent tasks with varying degrees of complexity and urgency, escalating issues when appropriate.Ability to communicate business processes and requirements to both internal organizational clients as well as external partners.Ability to summarize legal agreements, distill key information, and utilize a tracking system for contract administration.Commitment to diversity and ability to develop and maintain an equitable and inclusive workplace through interactions, decisions, and recommendations.Preferred Job Qualifications:Experience conducting business with public entities.Experience creating training materials and/or conducting training exercises in a professional context.Experience working with or within industries or sectors related to engineering, agricultural sciences, veterinary medicine, biomedical sciences, or the natural sciences.An understanding of federal and state laws and regulations in areas relevant to academic research such as animal and human subjects research, indirect cost recovery, export controls, and data management.Special Instructions to Applicants: CSU is committed to full inclusion of qualified individuals.
