The Assistant Director will assist the Director of the Store with the overall supervision of the Store operations including planning, organizing, coordinating and monitoring sales floor activities, shipping and receiving, course materials and general merchandise purchasing, pricing, merchandising, inventory control and accounting functions. This position will also assist with training, supervising and evaluating assigned store staff.Responsibilities:Oversee and manage opening and closing procedures.Direct staff in daily tasks, and re-prioritize work assignments as customer needs demand.Design merchandising set up and provide oversight into purchasing decisions.Maximize store growth by assisting the Director to develop, monitor and achieve budget goals through the implementation of cost-savings and revenue generating ideas/programs.Hire, train, and schedule student employees.Assist with the control of the textbook-cycle, from the solicitation of instructor book-adoptions to the purchase, sale and the return/buyback of textbooks to ensure student availability and cost efficiency.Establish effective communications both within the store, through regular staff meetings, and with the larger college community through positive, ongoing relationships via campus contacts with faculty, students and administration.Assist the Director to develop marketing programs to increase sales and promote the store as an integral part of the campus community.Arrange pop up events with Campus Community.Oversee the Store in the absence of the Director.Qualifications:Required:Demonstrated business management experience, including years of experience in a supervisory capacity or the equivalent combination of education and experience.Understanding of principles and practices of retail operations, cash management, business management and customer relations.Knowledge of merchandising techniques, physical inventory management and control.Must have excellent customer service, oral and written communication skills.Ability to work varied hours, days, nights, and weekends as business dictates.Ability to stand for long periods of time and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.Ability to meet schedules and timelines.Preferred:Associate’s degree or higher.Compensation:Special Instructions to Applicants:
