Procurement Category ManagerThe Amalgamated Sugar Company is seeking a Procurement Category Manager to lead our packaging procurement activities. This position is responsible for managing strategic product categories, supporting the development of the procurement strategy, and driving the category strategy through the procurement team. This position reports to the Director of Procurement and Materials Management.Amalgamated Sugar Company is built on innovation and is a proud leader in the sugar industry; that can only happen with the best people. Qualified candidates need to be dynamic and able to work successfully in a fluid environment.Additional Responsibilities:Leads procurement activities including sourcing, contracting, order management and supplier development for strategic product and service categories.Primary liaison with key internal customers to ensure a high level of service, schedule fulfillment and attainment of business objectives.Performs detailed review of supply and demand schedules to ensure alignment; develops forecasts, analyzes and publishes data and coordinates schedule changes between suppliers and demand planning.Involved in both tactical and strategic purchase order and inventory management functions.Leads sourcing activities, creates sourcing documents (RFQ/RFP), and negotiates pricing and key supply contract terms.Manages the evaluation and selection of suppliers and leads the competitive bidding process to deliver the best overall value to the company.Effectively communicates and coordinates activities with internal customers including Sales, Legal, Engineering, Operations and senior management.Ensures sourcing solutions align with business objectives of service, total cost, security of supply, food quality and other regulatory requirements.Builds and maintains relationships with key suppliers and works with internal stakeholders to conduct supplier performance reviews; ensures that ethical and open supplier relationships are created and maintained.Proactively works to resolve conflicts both internal and external to the organization.Performs other duties as assigned.Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree or higher in Business or a related field.Minimum 10 years’ experience in Procurement with experience managing strategic supply contracts.APICS or ISM certification preferred.Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.Top skills for this role:Request for Proposal (RFP)Internal CustomersProcurementContract DevelopmentStrategic PartnershipsBusiness NegotiationRequest for Quotation (RFQ)Relationship DevelopmentFeatured benefits
