POSITION SUMMARYDirects and supervises the operations of AgVantis, Inc., a technology service corporation for Farm Credit associations and banks. Directs the formulation, establishment and implementation of AgVantis objectives, plans and programs within Board policies. Serves as the primary contact with regulators and Board. Develops supervisory controls and presents reports to the Board on AgVantis operations. Directs the development of service corporation plans, programs and procedures. Directs and reviews feasibility studies on new information-processing systems and equipment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSDevelops, implements and maintains a customer-oriented service and marketing culture for all AgVantis activities. Maintains the existing customer base and develops new customers and relationships with potential customers. (20%)Directs the activities of AgVantis including, but not limited to, computer operations, technical services, applications systems and communications and networks, including determining staffing levels, assigning responsibilities and developing and implementing budgets, short- and long-range plans, programs and procedures. (15%)Develops and administers the AgVantis business plan. Directs and monitors the fiscal, operational and reporting activities in compliance with the Board and FCA. Manages the annual budget and cost efficiencies consistent with the organization. (15%)Develops the organizational structure and the corresponding staff reporting lines to carry out the mission. Delegates authority to personnel within established policies and guidelines. (10%)Establishes priorities for information processing and office systems projects; reviews appropriate projects with the Board and directs the planning and implementation of approved projects. (10%)Directs, coordinates and participates in the long-range plans and budgets to allocate resources. Develops the standards and objectives, monitors performance and ensures standards are met. (10%)Stays current on technology developments and trends, and directs and reviews feasibility studies on the application of technology to AgVantis and/or customer operations. Makes appropriate recommendations. (5%)

OTHER FUNCTIONSSelects, trains, supervises, organizes and evaluates assigned staff. Provides for the training and development of personnel. (5%)Oversees and monitors all security systems to include physical security of the service corporation; physical security of the computer operations and computer training areas; system access and data security; computer and telephone systems disaster recovery. (3%)Serves as AgVantis' primary contact with the associations. (5%)Performs other duties and assumes other responsibilities as assigned. (2%)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSEducation including a Bachelor's degree in computer science, data processing, information management, mathematics or a related field. An advanced degree is preferred.Experience of approximately 12 years in information processing activities, including at least 6 years in key supervisory or management positions.Knowledge of electronic information processing; systems design and analysis; programming methods and techniques; computer systems functions and operations.Skill in complex oral, written and interpersonal communication; information processing system design, development and operations; short- and long-range planning; budgeting; administration; supervision.Ability to direct the activities of a complex technical area; travel on a limited basis in performance of job.Regular attendance is required on this job, with the ability to work a full 8-hour day.
