POSITION PURPOSEThe Vice President of Mission Advancement is primarily responsible for volunteer recruitment, donor cultivation, stewardship, solicitation, grant writing, and dissemination of information to the public. The Vice President will oversee and manage two (2) Sproutlings Pediatric Day Care & Preschool and four (4) Masonic Home Special Events; participate with the SVPD&FR in overseeing the operation of key endowment/capital elements; foundation and grant work; and participate in the creation, development, and implementation of the Mission Advancement Department’s fundraising activities.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIESReport activities and production on a regular basis to the SVPD&FR.Assist in the coordination and implementation of fundraising activities.Be familiar with and keep up-to-date on all appropriate tax laws relating to charitable giving.Be familiar with various types of giving agreements and their benefits.Work cooperatively with corporate management, mission advancement committee, various professionals, and co-workers.Promote the total giving program of Masonic Homes through appropriate advertising and promotion vehicles, personal visits, direct mail, and any and all other opportunities.Help establish an annual departmental budget for the fiscal year.Help to carry out the mission, goals, and objectives established by corporate management and the board of directors.Be familiar with and carry out the Gift Acceptance Policies as approved by the Board.Keep SVPD&FR informed on the general operation of all assigned aspects of the department.Assist the SVPD&FR in achieving the department’s revenue and expense goals.Ensure payment of special event debts, and carry out such other functions as the SVPD&FR may direct and/or federal, state or local law, rule or regulation may require.Represent the Masonic Homes of Kentucky, Inc., as the SVPD&FR, President, or CEO may request.Continuously promote the Masonic Homes Kentucky and its contributions to the alumni, residents, employees, and their families.In conjunction with the Director of Fraternal Relations, be responsible for the operations and management of the development department in the absence of the SVPD&FR.General Statements on Values of the Mission Advancement DepartmentIn all matters involving donors, the interests of the donor shall come before that of the Masonic Homes. No program, agreement, trust, contract, or commitment shall be urged upon a donor that would benefit the Masonic Homes at the expense of the donor’s best interest.It shall be the policy of the Masonic Homes to exercise caution against the use of high-pressure sales techniques when dealing with donors.All information concerning donors shall be kept strictly confidential.Must always respectfully represent our Masonic Homes to the membership of Free and Accepted Masons in and out of Kentucky, to corporations and the public.Personal Requirements of Education and CharacterCooperate and participate in approved training programs conducted to keep professional fundraisers up to date and knowledgeable of new developments and/or changes in the profession.Maintain a high level of honesty, credibility, enthusiasm, and insight.Be self-motivating, articulate, persuasive, and people-oriented.Be scrupulously detail-oriented.Be adaptable as circumstances warrant.QUALIFICATIONSEducation/Certification:

College graduate or equivalent years of experience. Some Post-College preferred. A Certified Fundraising Professional preferred.Required Knowledge:

Knowledge of the suite of Microsoft Office Products. Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge preferred. Knowledge of OneCause preferred.EXPERIENCE:

5-10 years of development, fundraising, and/or related experience preferred.Skills/Abilities:

Good interpersonal and public relations skills; solid analytical, creative, and problem-solving abilities; well-organized project management skills; able to work well independently; able to assist, direct, and coordinate with others.PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITIONTalking:
