The Town of Colchester, CT is currently looking to hire a full-time
Director of Town Finance.
Job duties include:
The Finance Department is tasked with the upkeep of all budgets, accounts, and financial records for the Town. The leader in this role manages every facet of the Town's financial operations daily. The job demands robust financial management and analytical abilities. The incumbent will handle a broad range of professional accounting tasks and financial oversight duties for the Town. This includes directing the joint Finance Department's activities concerning the Town's fiscal operations and supervising all staff members who perform financial tasks for the Town. The ideal candidate will possess outstanding interpersonal skills, attention to detail, organizational prowess, and the ability to devise and implement policies and procedures. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is required, and experience with MUNIS financial software is preferred.
Education & Experience Requirements:
A bachelor’s or higher degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Public Administration, or a related discipline from an accredited institution is required. A minimum of five years' experience in public or governmental accounting, budgeting, and financial management is essential. Preference will be given to candidates with a CPA or CPFO designation, municipal or government sector experience, and familiarity with Munis. However, a comparable mix of education and experience will also be considered.
