SUMMARY

In accordance with established policies and procedures, the Branch Manager is responsible for the safe, secure, efficient, and effective management of the Branch Office(s). This position guides the branch office staff in providing quality service to members in areas of account transactions, loan applications, new accounts, and solving problems. The Branch Manager is also responsible for the profitability of the Branch by promoting Credit Union Services through visits to local businesses, attending community functions and other networking functions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for branch staff meeting their individual and collective sales goals. Provides regular coaching to ensure that all personnel are demonstrating sales-driven behaviors and enlists the assistance of the Training Department when necessary.

Ensures that the branch is meeting sales and ancillary product goals through coaching, observations, and product knowledge training.

Performs member service functions and exercises discretion and independent judgment in problem solving member service issues.

Represents the branch by attending business after hours and other networking and community events.

Responsible for business development outside of the branch office and strategizing ways to increase branch size.

Supervises, assists in training, and directs staff personnel.

Conducts performance reviews, performance improvement plans, and makes suggestions for further actions.

Ensures that branch is open and ready to conduct business each business day. Requests maintenance when needed and ensures that overall branch appearance is professional and welcoming to members.

Performs lending functions by interviewing, processing, closing, underwriting member loan applications and ensuring that loan files meet quality control guidelines.

Delegates various operational duties to the Head Teller or Tellers but assumes overall administrative responsibility for operating the branch.

Ensures that all security procedures are followed and that all surveillance and alarm systems are fully utilized and maintained.

Performs a variety of account maintenance functions including error corrections and adjustments.

Helps tellers to resolve balancing problems and authorizes over/short adjustments.

Conducts surprise audits as necessary to verify accuracy of teller’s balance.

Maintains a full understanding of branch deposit and loan balances and net new accounts.

Coordinates branch office coverage and manages staff overtime.

Holds regular meetings with branch employees to discuss branch sales progress, policies, procedures, and provides refresher training when necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or three to five years related experience and/or training.

Two years of supervisory experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Thorough knowledge of lending policies and procedures, and the ability to make sound, intelligent underwriting decisions based on an understanding of lending policies and procedures.

Ability to use various technical platforms including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.).

Ability to work well on teams and independently while keeping internal and external service top of mind.

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral or schedule form.

Excellent customer service skills and the ability to foster strong member relationships.
