Associate/Assistant Athletics Director for Compliance

Key duties and responsibilities:The Associate/Assistant AD for Compliance researches, plans, documents, and executes operational activities of the Athletics Program. They are knowledgeable about complex legal and regulatory issues potentially impacting University operations, have a solid grasp of strategic priorities, and operate with considerable autonomy. They interface with governmental entities by submitting reports and other required documentation, and handling on-site audits.

The Associate/Assistant Athletics Director for Compliance is responsible for complying with all NCAA, ACC, and University rules and regulations. The incumbent provides pertinent and timely compliance information to various internal and external constituencies, responding to questions and interpreting regulations when necessary. They assist with other compliance duties that support the overall objectives of the compliance program.

The Associate/Assistant AD for Compliance routinely analyzes situations, provides interpretation, identifies recommendations, initiates action, and provides guidance on all matters pertaining to their duties. They frequently coordinate meetings, disseminate information, and provide instruction to various internal and external constituencies. The incumbent monitors processes and systems to ensure compliance with rules and regulations; uses initiative and experience to resolve issues pertaining to the comprehensive compliance program; and works closely with individuals and groups to build relationships and promote the compliance program. They are accountable for NCAA, ACC, and University rules and regulations and submitting documentation as required by governing bodies, working under general supervision and reporting to the Associate Athletics Director for Governance & Regulatory Affairs.

Job duties include but are not limited to:

Providing compliance support for the football, baseball, and track programs, and assisting with the men’s basketball program.Monitoring, analyzing, and educating relevant stakeholders about pending NCAA proposals.Providing education to internal and external stakeholders regarding rules.Investigating allegations and preparing violation reports, waivers, and reinstatements.Monitoring and addressing issues associated with elite athletes.The University of Virginia is a highly competitive Division I program committed to academic and athletic excellence. The incumbent is a member of a team responsible for leading an intercollegiate athletics program that supports 27 sport programs and approximately 750 student-athletes.
