Quality Inspector - Mechanical - Level 2

Our associates are expert quality assurance professionals with broad experience and local knowledge who can represent our clients on-demand and on-site faster than our competitors.What to expect:This is an ongoing Quality Mechanical Inspector position, part-time 2 -3 days a week. You will be part of an inspection team assuring the quality of components and assemblies that this aerospace leader is sourcing from one or more suppliers in this area. Once on the team, you will be deployed through SQA’s operations center based on client needs and each supplier’s production schedule.What You'll Do:You will be conducting mechanical-focused inspections at one or more suppliers primarily in the San Jose, CA area.Perform precision inspection verifications on mechanical parts, components, assemblies, and materials.Inspection may include but is not limited to purchased parts, in-process and final assemblies, and materials for workmanship and conformance to specifications/drawings.Perform surface plate inspection of the first article, in-process, and lot sample parts if required.Utilize inspection equipment such as micrometers, gauge blocks, dial indicators, height gauges, optical comparators, profilometers, and coordinate measuring machines (CMMs) if necessary.Visual acuity and the ability to detect defects in highly complex products.Verify documentation packages to industry/commodity-specific standards.Classify defect types, and verify rework conducted during the time of the inspection.What You'll Need:Must have 5 or more years of hands-on industry experience with precise machine parts.Ability to use technology and adapt to new software.Be able to read and interpret standard manufacturing drawings based on industry and commodity standards.Capable of validating dimensions (total tolerances >/=.005” with Minimal GD&T validation) utilizing standard hand tools (e.g., micrometers, calipers, height gages).Experience with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance).Experience with COFC'S (Certificate of Conformance).Operating Coordinate Measuring Machine experience is a plus.Due to the nature of the products, US Citizenship is also a requirement, and background checks are required.Pay: $30 - $32 an hour. Additional 0.67 cents per mile traveled and half hourly rate of travel pay.
