Role Description

We are seeking a Community Relations Manager to design, implement, and manage Form Energy's community engagement strategy in U.S. communities where we are building energy storage projects, as well as where we maintain offices and facilities. You will be responsible for building and maintaining positive relationships with local communities, creating and running impactful local events, and overseeing all community outreach efforts for Form Energy. This role will also be responsible for tracking the outcomes of Form's community initiatives to ensure a return on the invested resources and for managing the financial planning and budgetary processes for community spend.This role is hybrid and requires 2 days per week in the office, flex as needed.

This role requires travel up to 40% of the time to project communities and communities where Form Energy has officesWhat you'll do:

Develop Community Engagement Strategy:

Design and execute a comprehensive roadmap for community outreach and engagement in partnership with Form Energy's commercial partners and internal stakeholders, ensuring alignment with company goals and values.

Sustain Community Relationships:

Build and maintain long-term partnerships with community organizations, landowners and neighbors, local elected officials, and other key stakeholders. Identify potential community opportunities and issues early to maximize impact. Act as the primary point of contact for all community-related matters where Form Energy develops its projects.

Event Management:

Plan, coordinate, and execute community events, both large and small scale, that promote company initiatives, educate the public about Form's breakthrough iron-air technology and energy storage projects, and foster positive community relationships.

Grant Administration:

As needed, Ensure compliance with community benefits grant commitments by tracking spending, monitoring time and costs, and providing detailed reports on the outcomes and impact of community activities. Participate as a key input stakeholder in future grant applications.

Track Performance:

Monitor the effectiveness of community engagement activities through data analysis, surveys, and community feedback. Use insights to optimize future strategies and report outcomes to the leadership team.

Budget Oversight:

Manage tasks according to budgets and schedules, including coordinating internal and external technical support and assisting in project budgeting and scheduling based on local public engagement needs, ensuring the proper allocation of resources within grant guidelines.

Support local project approvals:

Support Form Energy's Commercial Operations team to secure county and municipal approvals required for project development through public outreach.

Collaboration:

Work cross-functionally with internal teams such as Commercial Operations, Legal, Policy, and Corporate Communications to ensure cohesive messaging and alignment in community efforts.

Communications Support:

Draft and review communication materials, including press releases, advertisements, signage, handouts, and FAQs to keep the public and stakeholders informed of ongoing community efforts. Participate in crisis communications as needed.

Governance:

Create and maintain a governance structure on how to intake, track and respond to community requests. Administer and maintain the tracking. Train internal resources on the governance and monitor compliance across Form Energy on community engagement.

What you'll bring:

Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Affairs, Public Policy, Business, or a related field.

Minimum of 7 years of experience in renewable energy or infrastructure project development, community engagement, corporate social responsibility, public relations, or a similar role.

Strong understanding of grant funding requirements and compliance processes.

Proven track record in event planning and community relationship management.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to distill complex technical information to educate and inform community stakeholders.

Proficient at public speaking, with a strong ability to engage local residents and address their concerns and questions with empathy and tact.

Highly organized with an ability to manage multiple projects and budgets simultaneously.

Analytical mindset with experience in tracking and reporting on key performance indicators.

Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Able and willing to spend up to 40% of time traveling, as needed, to community engagements across the U.S.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree in Communications, Public Affairs, Renewable Energy, Community Development, or a related field.

Experience working with energy project developers, utilities, including local governments and municipalities, and /or non-profit organizations.

Proven capability with data analysis and data management related to budgets, time reporting, and project tracking.
